    Aimesh Nodes Daisy Chain?

You can configure a node's uplink (AP) through the Main router's AiMesh settings. If you want a node to connect (wirelessly) through a different node or the router, select that node in the AiMesh topology display, then go to Management (on the right side) and change Preferred WiFi Uplink AP from...

    Asus RT-AC88U AC3100 Bricked/Failed Firmware update

Just be aware that Chat GPT sometimes just makes sh1t up. I wouldn't use it as a technical resource without checking out the actual source.

Unable to add RT-AC68U to mesh - what can this be?

I've had similar issues adding (re-adding) some 68U's as nodes. I've been running AiMesh with several 68U's for many years, so I'm familiar with setting them up. But recently, after a firmware upgrade to most recent ASUS firmware and factory reset, I just couldn't get it to be found. Tried...

    Formatting JFFS Clears dhcp_staticlist NVRAM

dhcp_staticlist used to be in NVRAM (and on some models might still be). But since the text fields in it take up a lot of memory, I know that Merlin discussed moving it to storage in a jffs file. I assume that is why you lost the assignments.

Asus Ai mesh mixing wired and wireless mesh

@gommm, is there TV coax running into the kitchen or guest room? If your apartment is wired for cable tv in most rooms, you could use a pair of MoCa adapters to connect your main router to the distant access-point. One concern, being an apartment building, you should encrypt your MoCa and add a...

Brigding a ISP Modem in Asus RT-AX86U (Firmware:388.1)

If you just changed your ISP or the their router, did you release the WAN lease on the ASUS before swapping? My experience is if the ISP router is correctly setup to bridge or passthrough mode, it should be transparent to the ASUS router. It is just like plugging into a modem. It can sometime...

Should I keep my AIMesh router and nodes on same firmware version or upgrade router alone?

I don't bother updating nodes unless there's something specific I need to fix. The nodes are not directly exposed to the bad guys over the internet. I don't worry about attacks via wifi since I'm in a very uncongested location. And if a LAN client is compromised, I've got bigger problems than a...

RT-AC68U stuck on version 384.19 after firmware updates

Yup. With an incorrectly modified TM router, Merlin's newer firmware just quietly refuses to update. OTOH, Official ASUS firmware will roll you back to a version of T-Mobile firmware/CFE and lock the CFE. So consider yourself lucky.

rt-ac68u bizzare traffic graph spikes and Network Map Client list bug? (Screencaps included)

Not sure what the "reset" button actually clears on the RT-AC68U (I know it is described here somewher in a post by Merlin), but for a true "factory reset" you turn it off, then hold the WPS button while turning the router On. Keep holding the WPS until the power LED starts flashing - about 20...

Asuswrt-Merlin "Apply" button not working in windows 11.

@ Socio: Make sure your router's time zone settings are correct (in Administration/System). It has been known to get corrupted and prevent settings from being saved. In fact, try setting it to Greenwich Mean Time (+0) and Apply. Then make your other changes. If that fixes your issues, you can...

Check which process is spinning up the SSD - RT-AC66U_B1

AFAIK, there is no adverse effect of hibernation on an SSD. It just isn't necessary. It might be dependent on the SSD brand. But the SSD's controller should be able to handle or ignore the command as necessary for that particular SSD.

AiMesh Issues - Factory Reset and JFFS Packages Question

That's what I've had to do when adding my 68U's as nodes. However, IIRC, I only needed to roll the node back to 384.19 (or some 384 variant). So no issue with doing a factory reset. All the custom confige are on the main/parent router. Once paired, I just flash the node to current firmware...

    ASUS RT-AC68U No IP

I hope it is the power supply. The USB2 LED on is usually a sign that it can't boot. Often due to corrupt boot loader. But if the power is bad, I suppose that could cause this also.

AC68U wan port dead that was used as backhaul for AiMesh

On a router or AP it is possible to map the WAN to a LAN port through the GUI (in the WAN/Dual WAN setting) . The problem is you don't have access to an AiMesh node's GUI. There may be some magic you could do in the NVRAM settings on the node (via ssh) but I'm not up on that stuff. If it were...

Skynet Skynet banning Steam/Instagram/Facebook IPs all of a sudden

Try what? Could you be more specific on what "unrelated other changes that touched NVRAM" means?

Adding Aimesh node seems doesn't help to extend the primary router wifi signal

No, AiMesh doesn't switch your device to the strongest signal. It only switches when the current connection's signal strength goes below the Roaming Assistant threshold. AFA whether AiMesh is better than a plain old AP, the improvement in roaming hand-off is marginal. Plus with AiMesh you give...

Skynet Stats not generated and firewall not blocking anything

I just noticed the same thing. Stats and log have nothing new since Feb 11,2022. My RT-AX58U (192.168.1.1) is behind my ISP provided router so it has a local WAN IP address (192.168.0.60). Is this a problem? If so, what changed since it worked before. I just now reset the skynet stats through...

Any way to overclock new RT-AC68U?

That issue happened to me and others many years ago. I was using a small USB fan to cool the router, but it wasn't a heat issue. There was/is some incompatibility using the 68P CFE on a 68U with the (then) current firmware. I haven't tried it since. I just overclock the 68U CFE and get the same...

Apple devices can't access Internet if IPs are DHCP-assigned

Are the Apple devices configured to use its static MAC or are the MACs random? If your DHCP is locked-down to only provide IPs to known devices, random MACs would explain this issue.

RT AC68U - Bricked with only USB led on

Those are symptoms of a corrupt CFE. It can't boot from the bootloader. Could be caused by a hardware failure or maybe you tried flashing a bad CFE. If it can be fixed (big IF), it would require opening the case - which would void any warranty. Return it while you can.
