    AX58U/AX3000 USB issues

None of those USB drives need to spin down, so make sure HDD Hibernation is turned off.in Administration/System. Have you tried partitioning and formatting using amtm (via ssh)?

    AX58U Meshnode lossing config

Since you are swapping the 58U, probably just academic. How hot is your attic? Mine could bake bread in the summer. Any way you could move it down into a living area - even just to see it it still happens? Also, the heat might make the power supply might be unstable. Did you run uptime to see if...

386.3_2 on RT-AC88U denies access to webGUI and SSH over ethernet, but wireless access works fine

How could it be hardware when it worked before the update? It sounds like you can access wirelessly but which method? Asus app or just connecting to SSID and entering the GUI? What firmware version did you upgrade from? Since you can get in to the gui wirelessly, I'd back-up the settings and...

    Asus AIMesh Guest network issues

I see that too. It sort of defeats much of the purpose of having a Guest network (AFA preventing a malicious guest client from attacking the LAN). Only benefit I see is that you don't have to expose the main SSID & LAN password to IoT clients & guest users. But that 's a marginal benefit.

Problems connecting node to main AiMesh router using Merlin firmware. Should I go back to Asus stock?

Wired and wireless failed continuously for me when trying to pair 386.3 parent to 386.3 RT-AC68U node(s). That's why I re-flashed older firmware on the nodes. Since it had this behavior on all 3 of my node candidates, I have to assume some sort of incomparability. I even tried factory reset my...

Problems connecting node to main AiMesh router using Merlin firmware. Should I go back to Asus stock?

I tried pairing 3 different RT-AC68U routers as nodes to my main router (RT-AX3000). All were running 386.3. I already had one RT-AC68 node and had just updated it to 386.3 so it was OK. . Tried many times to get one of the others paired but failed each time (wired & wifi). Each time resetting...

    Upgrade from old firmware

On a garage sale router (or any used routers), be sure you format the jffs partition (in Admin/system settings) and reboot. That will clear out any old databases and ensure there's no hidden trojans. A factory or WPS reset doesn't clear jffs (unless that's changed recently).

ASUS firmware DHCP "Continuous Mode" potential fix for "ISP's DHCP did not function properly"

I think you're right about the "fixes". I run into this problem only after making major changes on my router. I quit trying to fix it, just get a beer and wait. My ISP has a 30 minute lease, so average wait time for me is 15 minutes. Not worth going into Kabuli dance mode.

AX88U driving me crazy because it keeps crashing

Do you have a Guest #1 SSID configured with Access Intranet disabled? This seems to cause mine to crash periodically.

    Release RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.43129

Are you sure that the node's connection priority didn't get set to Auto instead of Ethernet?

    Two RT-AX68Us, different channel options

Older RT-AC68U don't have encrypted CFE (at least mine don't). So you could try running strings /dev/mtd0 | grep ccode If you see something like 0:ccode={some char string} 1:ccode={likely same string} then yours isn't encrypted and it might of been patched by a previous owner.

    RT-AX68U - can't perform hard factory reset

Are you sure you did the factory reset correctly for the RT-AX68U? It is slightly different than the RT-AC68U. Method #2.

    Disable 5Ghz AC68U repeater mode

How do you do that. The only setting I can find is where you specify the the 5GHz SSID/Authentication Method/encryption/key. It won't let you set a null SSID, and you certainly don't want to omit encryption, authentication or key as that would leave it open and unsecured. Update: nevermind - I...

AX58U AI Mesh node red light

Since it is a wired node, make sure the ethernet comes from a LAN port on the router to the WAN port on the node. I know from experience that on an AX58U (AX3000) on the main router, the red WAN light indicates it cant get an IP from the upstream entity (usually the modem or cable head). Not...

TP-Link AC2600 unable to connect to RT-AX88U with firmware 386.1. Works with 384.19

Repeater don't seem to behave well on all 386 that I've tested. Had many log messages (paraphrasing) about not able to assign IP to (client MAC) since it isn't a AiMesh client. Sorry, logfiles have rolled-over so I can't quote it verbatim.

    RT-AC68U Repeater Problems since 386.*

I had a similar problem trying both Merlin 386.1_2 and 386.x ASUS ASUSWRT. I also noticed that the repeater's GUI said the Security Level was "Open System". That alone caused me to go back to Merlin 384.19. And before I also get the above suggestion, I did check CRC checks (SHA-256) before...

how come can web browse, but I can't ping when I hardwire a LAN cable to my Asus (but I can via WIFI)

You should be able to ping either way. Assuming the PC/laptop has both Wired and Wireless adapters, did you disable Wifi when testing the ethernet? Do you have any filters or routing rules on your router? Keep in mind that your ethernet adapter MAC is likely different than the wifi adapter...

    Update failing? RT-AC68U Merlin 384.19

Regarding the installation error about jffs being nearly full, IIRC, just resetting the router doesn't clear out jffs. I haven't installed 386 firmware, but assuming the option still exists, I'd try going through the gui to tick the option to Format JFFS partition at next boot. Then reboot and...
