Asuswrt Merlin - Rt-ac68u (TMO AC1900) Network cable unplugged

Yeah, what he said. I'm just surprised it took over two hours. But you proved it isn't the router's firmware - so it might be time to go shopping for another.

GUI Reboot vs Power off/on restart

Whats the difference between a warm boot and a hard boot? A lot. On a hard boot, all hardware is reset to it's initial (presumably known good) state. On a warm boot, any component that is already in a failure mode could possibly stay in that state. If this is happening frequently, it may be a...

Have a TM-AC1900 I had coverted to AC68U. Any way to reset it back to factory T-Mobile settings

I had to google it to make sure it wasn't some new fetish. o_O But - it was for his mother, after all.

    Can't Login to GUI

Are you "Mike S"? If so, why two log-ins? Gets confusing when you switch between them in the same thread.

Problems using an AC68U as a repeater of a guest wireless network from an AX88U

I had been using some cheap TP-Link wall-wart repeaters for the Guest SSID and they worked OK (range wasn't too good so I didn't get the coverage I wanted). I had an extra 68U so I gave it a try. I don't recall any issues, first using ASUS, then switching to Merlin. I don't think it is...

Problems using an AC68U as a repeater of a guest wireless network from an AX88U

I can't explain why, but I can only access my 68U repeater (of the main router's 5GHz guest) by manually setting the repeater's IP. Even though I have the same MAC configured in the router's DHCP (with the same fixed IP), the repeater goes away when I set the repeater to automatically get a LAN...

    Asus/Merlin Script Tutorial

Yes, it's linux. There's plenty of books already written. Maybe something like this for starters: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1593279523/?tag=snbforums-20 Yes, there's slight differences with every flavor of linux, but mostly minor.

Check Amazon. There's lots of them available for < $20 US.

Is impossible to connect to SMB Share on AiMesh Node

I've been using an external drive on my nodes all along - often with a mix of stock ASUS and Merlin on the nodes and parent. Regardless of the router's login/password, the only way I could mount the node's partitions in Windows is to use the old default - admin/admin. My only issue is I can't...

    DHCP Server: Manual or Auto?

There's negligible overhead for the DHCP server to look-up the MAC and assign a fixed IP. There's benefit if you actively manage your LAN. For example, I don't want my APs, nodes, and repeaters IP addresses moving - I log-in often. I have scripts with the hard-coded IP. Also by assigning fixed...

    Increasing the 5GHz WiFi range?

In some (maybe most) localities 5GHz channels 149 and higher have more transmit power. It seemed to improve my coverage noticeably. But that's not gonna help receivablility at the router unless the client side also gets a boost.

Does the reboot function reboot all Mesh routers?

That's good to know, however I've never used the reboot scheduler. My router and nodes usually run until I need to update the firmware or reboot for some other reason. When I updated my firmware on the router yesterday my two nodes didn't reboot. So it must be the scheduler that sends reboot...

Does the reboot function reboot all Mesh routers?

After a scheduled reboot, log-in to the node via ssh and run uptime to see how long it has been since the last reboot. But this has been asked before and I believe the answer was - no, the nodes don't reboot. You'd need to schedule reboot to run as a cron job. And you'll need to set-up a script...

Any way to overclock new RT-AC68U?

I'm not suggesting that you do that. I just wanted to make sure you weren't running the CFE from a 68P. That has been known to severely cripple 68Us running newer firmware (regardless of clock frequency). I just recently(a month or so ago) stepped my 68U main router to 1200 from 800 . nvram...

Any way to overclock new RT-AC68U?

I run the latest firmware. Did you install a different CFE?

Any way to overclock new RT-AC68U?

To overclock your 68U to 1200,800. This has been posted and verified many times. Works on ASUS and Merlin firmware. nvram set asuscfeclkfreq=1200,800 && nvram set asuscfecommit=1 nvram set clkfreq=1200,800 && nvram commit && reboot

amcfwm - AsusWRT-Merlin Custom Firmware Manager

I was wondering if it would run on my overloaded/under-powered 68U. Then I decided against it.
