ASUS Blue Cave AC2600 Dual-Band Wireless Router Reviewed

hmm, this page: https://www.techbang.com/posts/56963-elegant-exterior-into-the-home-life-support-alexa-and-ifttt-asus-blue-cave-wireless-router has a printout of a /proc/cpuinfo from the blue cave. It lists 3 cpus, and one of them has "VPE=1" , which is MIPS lingo for a virtual processor, So...

ASUS Blue Cave AC2600 Dual-Band Wireless Router Reviewed

Hmm, the main occupant of the third core seems to be wanduck. And when Tim was running the bufferbloat test without hardware acceleration the CPU screen was showing the third core maxed out. Wonder if that's related. wish I had the link to the Chinese forum with the bootlog showing the cpu...

Best way to extend wi-fi signal repeater or AP?

I don't know on the Asus specifically, but assuming you're setting it up as a wireless (not wired) you just want to set it up so that it connects to one of the SSIDs of the main router, and also that it broadcasts exactly the same SSID and password. Then clients will be able to join either...

    Is Anyone Using MU-MIMO?

I tried again and it was still inconclusive. Tried my HP laptop with intel AC8265 (2x2) and Samsung galaxy S8 (2x2). Router was still the Phicomm K3C (3x3) Ran 20 second tests, clients were about 9 feet apart First trial with MUMIMO combined bandwidth was 310mbps second trial is was 203 mbps...

I don't know how to fix my current setup (Double NAT & Bridge Mode)

If you're double natted, the WRT probably has an '8' IP address assigned to it. 192.168.8.something. You could try going into B310 settings (no idea what options you have there) and defining your DMZ as the 192.168.8.x of the WRT, that might work to pass along all traffic.

I don't know how to fix my current setup (Double NAT & Bridge Mode)

Being double NATted might not be that bad. You could potentially have issues reacing your network from the outside world, so maybe gaming or file sharing (or access plex videos remotely). However... if you don't have any problems with that now, then you don't have any problems and everything...

Wi-Fi Alliance’s EasyMesh Certification Standardizes Home Wireless Networks

Wow if this technology can really interoperate well between vendors that would be huge. somewhat longer writeup available here if you enter your contact info: https://www.wi-fi.org/downloads-registered-guest/Wi-Fi_CERTIFIED_EasyMesh_Technology_Overview.pdf/35424 Seems like it will require a...

    Wi-Fi System Roundup

    1) My anecdotal experience (not orbi but other "smart connect") is that the client device is mostly in charge of which channel it joints, and sometimes they'll be dumb and join the 2.4ghz channel when they shouldn't. Tim's more recent roaming mysteries articles seem to back this up. I don't...

    upgrade my router

Well golly then. That might make it hard to offer advice. So, it sounds like what you have now is working.. A newer router can get you a 4 stream device instead of the 68U's 3 streams, for a bit better range or speed. And maybe faster CPU's for better performance at something like VPN...

How do I trouble-shoot intermitent issues

What's the distance between the ONT and the gateway? I'm wondering why it was using coax in the first place. Which of the devices have management IP address that you can access? When you have an outage. You can work your way up through the ladder of devices in reverse to try to find the...

    Slow speeds 50% drop

How are the PC and xbox connected to the router, ethernet or wireless? It would be useful to see if the internet gets slow even on a wired ethernet connection.

    upgrade my router

Are you currently running a third party firmware on it? If not, something like Rmerlin or DDWRT would probably let let you do those things.

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

Welp I think my K3C just lost all wife acceptance factor. Because our internet went out at night while she was streaming spotify. and then our phones were complaining that the wifi connection didn't have internet connectivity. When I logged into the K3C to check status, I got these two error...

    TP Link Archer C2600 Reviewed

Old review but does anyone have one of these? They can be had for quite a bargain now if you want a refurb. Especially wondering if any third party firmware can be used on it. It seems like maybe LEDE/OpenWRT can, but I haven't used that at all and don't know how easy it is to set up.

    Wi-Fi System Roundup

    1) the "minor" idea was just to get your imac behind the firewall. 2) Yeah, just walk around with the wifi analyzer and a speedtest app. When the speedtest hits your "minimum acceptable speed", look at the signal strength in the wifi analyzer app. Now you know the signal strength you need...

    Wi-Fi System Roundup

Minor, but I would have the cable modem feed into your router, and only your router, before going into your imac or any other computers. That way it will help protect your computers with a firewall. curious, what are your walls made of? My 5ghz signal can make it through a few pieces of...

    Phicomm K3C AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router Reviewed

So I re-installed my K3C as my main router. In addition, just to learn about it and be gratuitously fancy, I learned to set up my old DDWRT router working as an AP so that it would also work as a DHCP/DNS server within the same subnet. The two routers' DHCP's had different scopes though so it...
