[SOLVED] OpenVPN server and Client not allowed at same time?

I have both OpenVPN server and OpenVPN client configs in my router, and I use them for different purposes. I have noticed that if I am connected by client to a remote vpn server, if I connect from outside my lan to my openVPN server on my router that I am unable to get to any internal machine...

Asus 86U randomly having latency issues

Well, 2 days after setting up everything from scratch, I have not yet experienced the dropped/slowed connections yet. Perhaps it is just luck, but so far so good. Here is exactly what my before and after setup looked like for the RT-AC86U: BEFORE: 384.18 or 384.19 upgraded as normal with router...

Asus 86U randomly having latency issues

I have also noticed latency (and speed) issues on the 86U (5ghz, .18 or .19 firmware). Did a complete reset (no restore) from scratch a few days ago, and so far haven't seen the problem, but with the work week starting I am monitoring closely and will report back.

AC86U 384.18, every other day or few days internet stops working while the GUI shows it as connected

I have noticed a very similar problem, although the internet does not stop working altogether, on my 86U (running 384.19, but also on the previous firmware) the internet slows to a small percentage of my bandwidth until I reboot, then goes back to normal. I have verified that the 86u is the...

Skynet Skynet resetting ssh access to LAN only?

Thanks, but I want to make the point that OpenVPN **is also** WAN access. If we wanted to have (real) maximum security, we would unplug from the internet. SSH on a non standard port with key login only (password login disabled) is not less safe than OpenVPN.

Skynet Skynet resetting ssh access to LAN only?

I THINK I just found the setting in Menu 11 (settings) then Menu 8 (secure mode) set to Disabled. We will see...

Skynet Skynet resetting ssh access to LAN only?

I noticed after installing Skynet that my router (RT-AC86U) seemingly had its ssh access changed from "LAN & WAN" to "LAN Only", which I thought was odd. I have reset it a couple of times since to "LAN & WAN", only to have it revert to "LAN Only". A look through the logs found that Skynet was...

    VPN server won't start

Ah, I just read your link, and that reboot after holding the wps button is probably what cleared it as per that description.

    VPN server won't start

Interesting. It still worked for some reason, after all the restore button pushing in the interface did not. Maybe simply power cycling after the restore button failure in fact cleared it. In any event, it definitely reset to the setup after that. (My prev device was a 68u and that wps button...

OpenVPN server not starting on Merlin

It was a very strange thing, the restore buttons in the admin would NOT erase my router. I had to use the trick of holding the wps button for 20 seconds on startup to really reset it. Then I restored my config file. Then I was able to start my openvpn server. Then I restored my JFFS partition...

OpenVPN server not starting on Merlin

Is there a place (path) to hand delete these files (list of files?), rather than setting everything to factory default? And is it safe to do so? I found the openvpn folder in the /jffs path, is it safe to delete it or the files inside? UPDATE: I think I just realized these are for my client...

    VPN server won't start

When I try to configure a vpn server for OpenVPN, it comes up with the following message and then never starts: Initialinzing the settings of OpenVPN server now, please wait a few minutes to let the server to setup completed before VPN clients establish the connection. I have tried turning it...

Syslog filled with pixelserv-tls errors (Failed to create conn_handler thread. err: 11)

I added swap file and the messages have gone away. Thanks for the tip!

Syslog filled with pixelserv-tls errors (Failed to create conn_handler thread. err: 11)

I have installed and configured Diversion and pixelserv-tls, and everything SEEMS ok (I think). But I keep seeing a ton of lines like this in my syslog: Jul 20 22:23:01 pixelserv-tls[18436]: Failed to create conn_handler thread. err: 11 Especially when I visit certain sites (like cnn.com). My...

API / Alternative UI (for mobile)

Hi I am a web developer (mostly working with node/js/html/css these days but also have a lot of php experience) and I was interested in a reworked interface for accessing the router settings. I have looked at the ASUS Router app for iOS, but it lacks functionality I need (VPN settings for...

Firmware "Check Update" just spins and spins with no response

I went through quite the odyssey trying to reset my router from scratch. My connected usb stick stopped working (permanently, I guess it was just its time to die), there were all kinds of entware and other software I had configured over the years, the backup I had made was somehow corrupt and...

Firmware "Check Update" just spins and spins with no response

So before I go down that route, are there any commands to set these values manually?

Firmware "Check Update" just spins and spins with no response

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it! The network panel of devtools just keeps endlessly repeating calls to detect_firmware.asp, ajax_onboarding.asp, and ajax_status.xml in a loop with differing timestamps appended. detect_firmware.asp looks like this for me: webs_state_update = ''...
