    ASUS RT-AC86U firmware release 3.0.0.4.384.45149 12/05/2018

Are you sure your IPv6 settings in the router are correct for your ISP?

    ASUS RT-AC86U firmware release 3.0.0.4.384.45149 12/05/2018

When IPv6 stops working like that, what do you do to get it working again? Do you have reboot? I have the RT-AC86U with the same firmware and haven't seen the problem - YET.

    ASUS RT-AC86U firmware release 3.0.0.4.384.45149 12/05/2018

Critic, how do you know the router is 'soft-crashing'? Do you see something in the log?

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.59SF

I can confirm the packet loss and latency issues on the stock firmware. I had .3% packet loss using stock 58 and 0% with 52. Tried a few times going back and forth to be sure. Each test ran about half hour. Used pinginfoview utility in Windows on 5 GHz.

    RT-AC86U and DFS

Two UNI bands are not enough, especially in an apartment building. With most ISP routers defaulting to 80 MHz channel widths that leaves only two choices for 5GHz. Also, how many people live near radar? If their router detects radar they can then use a UNI band.

    RT-AC86U and DFS

I’m running Merlin, not stock for now. But it seems people are resorting to buying Chinese versions of the RT-AC68U to get the DFS channels. Not sure why Asus hasn’t made them available in North America.

    RT-AC86U and DFS

Why doesn't the North American version of the RT-AC86U (not RT-AC68U) support DFS channels if the FCC allows it now? You'd think all recent routers with the capability to do so in the chipset would allow those channels to be selected in the firmware. Is it because the FCC testing procedure is...

    R7800 firmware 1.0.2.58 released

R7800 firmware 1.0.2.58 released by Netgear. I haven't tried it yet but will soon.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.6 is now available

All Netbios host names show properly, including Static assigned ones in the network map in 384.5 on a 68u. They don’t in 384.6 on an 86u.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.6 is now available

Upon further investigation, only one computer name doesn't show up. The one I use! It appears to be something to do with it's NETBIOS name on High Sierra that I will try fix up. Thanks.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.6 is now available

Sorry if this has been answered but why is it that host names don't show up for devices in the Network Map (only mac addresses), but do under assigned DHCP leases? On a RT-AC86U. Merlin 384.6.

    Qualcomm firmware version in R7800

Sorry I didn't phrase the question properly. What I mean is do you ever use QCA firmware that is newer than what is in latest stock?

    Qualcomm firmware version in R7800

Voxel, I take it you always use the same QCA drivers/firmware that Netgear uses in their firmware that you are basing your build on? Or do you ever encorporate different/newer QCA drivers in your firmware? For example, I see this on your Github page...

[Preview] Early Asuswrt-Merlin 384.6 test builds are available

Don't most of the change logs in the .zip downloads of the alpha 2 test builds say 20945?

Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.53SF/1.0.2.53SF-KF [Updated]

Currently I'm at -49dBm (5 Ghz, channel 44) on my MAC which is a floor away from the R7800. From my recollection, in the same location, it's been around that signal strenth for a while. If I revert to 1.0.2.44, or some earlier version, I will check again to compare. Thanks for your input...

Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.53SF/1.0.2.53SF-KF [Updated]

This seems surprising given https://fccid.io/PY315200310, which I downloaded two years ago, shows the power on the lower 5GHz channels equal to the higher ones from the start. I also see no signal difference in WIFI Explorer on my MAC between 1.0.2.52 and prior firmwares.

    Qualcomm firmware version in R7800

I agree about the typical battery complaints. This one is different. Affects SE, 6, and 6S mostly. We’re talking going from 6 hours usage to 1 after the 11.4 update, and on a good battery. People on macrumors are claiming that putting WiFi on 2.4 instead of 5 fixes it.

    Qualcomm firmware version in R7800

Is there any way to retrieve the version of the Qualcomm wifi chipset firmware/software from the R7800? Was it updated in Netgear firmware 1.0.2.52? There are threads over at Macrumors and Apple regarding battery drain with some iPhones using IOS 11.4.1 that might be related to 5Ghz wifi. I...
