    R7800 better than R7000 for 5GHz?

I installed the R7800 yesterday. It appears, the low 5GHz channels do provide the same power, range and throughput as the upper channels. It performs similarly to the R7000 on 5GHz at the high channels and of course much better at the low channels since it doesn't have the same power...

Replace R7000 to get higher power on low 5GHZ channels?

Thanks for your feedback TonyH. I may give the RT-AC3100 a try as well. I haven't used Asus for WIFI in a little while because I found their 2.4GHz auto channel on the 68U never changed channels - it just sat on channel 6. Perhaps that was just my unique setup. Now it doesn't matter that...

Replace R7000 to get higher power on low 5GHZ channels?

Thanks Bob. I am trying out an R7800 right now (AC2600). It doesn't improve my signal or range over the R7000, however it does allow full use of the lower channels at the same power and range as the higher ones.

    R7800 better than R7000 for 5GHz?

One question I still have is whether using 3rd party firmware like Kong, XVortex or Tomato on my existing R7000 will allow changing of the region code to enable higher power than the FCC specifies on the lower 5GHz channels. I am very confused reading about it as to whether the device is locked...

    R7800 better than R7000 for 5GHz?

Thanks Tim, I know most of the routers in this article you wrote used Broadcom chips, but can you explain the dismal 5GHZ uplink performanc on Channel 44 in http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-features/32896-will-a-new-ac-router-bring-you-wifi-joy ? Have you seen the same on QCA...

    R7800 better than R7000 for 5GHz?

Rogers SC, thanks for the reply. If you are using an 80MHz wide channel, aren't you using all the channels from 149 to 165? I've set my R7000 to 80MHz on channel 149 and he's also 80MHz wide on channel 157. I ues WiFI explorer on my MAC and it shows me as Primary Channel 149, Channel Center...

    R7800 better than R7000 for 5GHz?

I have been using the R7000 successfully for the last couple of years. It is placed on the middle of 3 floors, and I have been getting decent 5GHz signal throughout the house. A couple of days ago someone moved in next to me and has a Rogers/Hitron gateway running 5GHz on channel 157, 80 MHz...

    RT-AC 1900P at Best buy

Does the RT-AC1900P have the same FCC ID as the RC-AC68U series routers? Does the RT-AC1900P support higher power (1 watt) on the lower 5GHz channels, or are all the AC 1900 series routers limited in that respect to pre-2014 FCC indoor restrictions? Do any popular routers support DFS channels...

Adding AP's would be great if you didn't have to deal with moving around a large house and roaming issues.

[Preview] 380.57 alpha test builds for all models

This is the same version of the Broadcom driver I get under stock Asus 3.0.0.4.378.9135 on a RT-AC68P. Shouldn't it be newer if the .380 firmware has a new Broadcom SDK? OK, I updated to stock 3.0.0.4.380.1031 and now the Broadcom is version 6.37.104.126 (r561982).

    RT-AC68U New FW

Silly question but how can you tell what signature version you have? Also, is Merlin's firmware typically up-to-date with the signature version or behind?

RT-AC68P (with upgraded CPU, NOT R or U)

Can anybody confirm whether the RT-AC68P has different power amps than the RT-AC68U and whether that makes a difference in day-to-day usage. Can you buy these anywhere other than Best Buy?

Thanks, now just have to find one in Canada.

RT-AC68P (with upgraded CPU, NOT R or U)

Is it easy to identify the RT-AC68P on the box? Does the bar code label say RT-AC68P? Does it say 1GHZ right on the box?
