    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 is now available

I decided to not risk shady resellers and hw, and went for the European version from computeruniverse.

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 is now available

It didn't work. So I went to restore everything ready to give up, and I noticed that the channel was again Auto instead of the 36 I selected before reboot. So I reset everything to auto and tried again the channel on 36 and I am happy to report that you were right. That channel worked, and some...

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 is now available

Ok, I restarted the phone and now it can see it :) I thought that the solution was restarting the router...meh. Anyway, restarting the tv stick did not help. I will now try your suggested settings, powering down everything for a few seconds, just in case.

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 is now available

I prefer English :) At least some changes were saved without disabling radio, because I checked from windows the 5ghz properties while connected, and it showed N first and AC later when I changed that setting. Regardless, I also tried to disable and re-enable radio on 5ghz, but my android phone...

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 is now available

I thought about that, but I played around with channels and freq (over/under 100, 20 to 80MHz only, only N, N/AC, ...). Nothing helped. I also found out that the iphone6 can see that network, but the galaxy s6 doesn't. This tells me nothing so far, though :) (I am in Germany)

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 is now available

Hi Merlin, just got an AC86U and got back to your FW after being for a while with John's fork on N66U. All good so far, except my phone and fire tv stick cannot see the 5ghz wifi. My 2 laptops (mint and win10) can see it and connect seamlessly, since I recreated all as it was in the N66U.

[RT-AC86U] what are the differences between European and Asian variants?

Didn't know about the lock, and that's why I asked about the difference . Now that I know, my path is set :)

[RT-AC86U] what are the differences between European and Asian variants?

Mh, I wonder the compromises of the people buying those clearly China with extra EU adapters. I suppose they just don't care and things kinda work.

[RT-AC86U] what are the differences between European and Asian variants?

But that means only Asian are unlocked and could be used in Europe for example?

[RT-AC86U] what are the differences between European and Asian variants?

You mean you cannot flash merlin FW? I'll pay the 70€ difference for the European version then. :)

[RT-AC86U] what are the differences between European and Asian variants?

Cannot be configured to comply with local laws /settings using your FW? Are such differences carved in HW?

[RT-AC86U] what are the differences between European and Asian variants?

I ask because in Germany there is a 70€ price difference between European ones and Asian imported. Cannot be just the extra power adapter annoyance, right?

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

No need to apologize, you do more than enough! :) I am not sure the problem is clear. The fire tv stick being rejected by the streaming services, is not in the vpn list (I actually installed a VPN client there selecting only Kodi to go through it). However, the stick is going through the router...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

But due to my double NAT Exclusive makes my WAN devices not have a working DNS. It seems to work with relaxed, but I am not sure how that works, sounds a bit too relaxed for a VPN :D

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I asked a couple of times about those settings but got no answer, didn't want to bother you again :) Apparently I got my answer sideways eventually :D Thanks

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

yes, I get just below 15mbit. i used it for low def traffic until I had the dns leak.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Yes, you can choose it with the last option on the vpn client page, there you can also add the desired devices. Maybe because I did not spend time trying to understand the dns options, I had a dns leak to every device, so some service (DAZN, Amazon Prime, ...) on devices not behind vpn forbid me...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

@john9527 could you clarify the openvpn client dns settings? I would like to re-enable it but I suspect that Strict setting was leaking dns to devices not supposed to go through vpn.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Correct, they all go through my N66 but only 2 devices not using the streaming service are supposed to go through (Nord)VPN. How do I know if they share the VPN DNS? I set Strict in VPN client, but I thought that means that the 2 devices going through VPN are supposed to try the VPN DNS first...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I cannot explain it yet (but I am sure with some more info it will be understood here :) ). I updated the FW to latest (I needed an excuse, I was on 29), and it started working, but after I changed PC thinking it was solved, it did not work anymore. So I thought that it must be something...
