OVPN connection loss after TLS re-key

    Oh yes please!

OVPN connection loss after TLS re-key

Asked nordvpn. "Thank you for your letter. We currently do not have any additional information regarding this issue, although our system administrators have told they're going to look into this as soon as possible. Let us know if there's anything else we can assist you with." Meh.

I would have done exactly the same. I don't know where the notification went :)

OVPN connection loss after TLS re-key

If it helps, and if I remember correctly, this issue started when @john9527 (and perhaps merlin) updated openvpn client to 2.4. Release 23 was working fine I think.

Thanks John, didn't notice that thread, I am watching it now and I will try the nointeract once I am back from vacation. I might also try to ask nordvpn as well.

Which vpn provider are you using? Another user and I are having the same dead internet connection issue with this fork as well with nordvpn. I can have days straight without issue and then it happens every day, and then not again. So it is hard to pin it down to any particular event :(

Remotely access ssh of a device connected with a VPN client

I appreciate the suggestion, but I am looking for a SW solution. I know that money can work around this problem. :)

Remotely access ssh of a device connected with a VPN client

Are you suggesting that I create an openvpn server in the router hiding the RPi? In that case, it is a shirtty Vodafone Station Revolution that allows only a few protocols (not openvpn), and even they don't work properly. That with DDNS was the first thing I tried. I could connect with PPTP, but...

Remotely access ssh of a device connected with a VPN client

Hi, I am setting up a RPi as access point routing all the traffic through a VPN, and in case the service doesn't work for some reason, the traffic is blocked. There are 2 exceptions: 1 - traffice within a couple of LANs should work 2 - the RPi should be accessible through ssh from outside The...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

@john9527 thanks for this! You know in my current pending issue with nord vpn sometimes I see the vpn client up but cutting internet traffic, sometimes the client appears even disabled in the Gui. How is the latter going to be seen? Turning itself off and therefore disabling the killswitch...

Thanks John, I'll try this tonight and report as soon as I won't get disconnected anymore :D

He he apparently I not alone anymore :) No, so far we did not find a solution. I noticed 2 variants of this issue. 1 - vpnclient simply down, and I have to go and enable it again 2 - all looks fine from the router perspective, but the vpn tunnel is just not working under the hood Perhaps we can...

@john9527 I don't know if you didn't have time or overlooked it: you have PMs :)

I have a VPN client with some devices going through it and having the killswitch. What is the expected behavior when I disable the client? Shouldn't it disregard the policy to route those devices through it? The effect I experience is that they have no internet access. Unexpected.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I am not sure I understood. There are 2 issues? 1 - one hour reconnections (isn't it something that can be configured but if client and server don't match, it takes the shorter? And I think it didn't happen on v23 or 24,or at least I didn't notice) 2 - Internet lost at reconnect. Although...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Hi @john9527, regarding what may or may not be related to what you suggested, I found out another misbehavior. I am losing connectivity when the hourly(?) vpn renegotiation with nordvpn takes place. This happens of course on vpn devices, like the fire tv stick. This is to be unfortunately...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

That might have been also what I reported some time ago, and I noticed it only on my satellite receiver because it is the only wired device I use consistently. John thought it might have been related to VPN, but maybe that applied (or not) to the periodical temporary internet loss on wireless...

Ha! I just exposed a bug (or a missing feature, to be diplomatic) by just making a joke :D

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Yeah that's what I meant, but I was asking if it is also within the release itself (and it is), because in a few months this post will be buried in other posts asking if it's possible to flash back from a 380FW :)
