[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I saw you mentioned some pages ago how to move them to jffs. Is it documented permanently also somewhere else (readme?), in case I (we) do it in the future and it is not easy to find that info in a long thread?

Wireless router with openvpn client support

Yes, I would have considered a refurbished option if this was really important to me, however, for now my kids suck the life out of any always-on technological appliance, so I'll pass for now :D

Wireless router with openvpn client support

It would be a good suggestion but I don't want a pc running all day just for that for consumption and kids doom reasons :) Also, I never realized that I don't have a retired pc. My last one was over 10 years ago ,3 houses and one country ago ,after that ,new laptops every time the old one self...

    N66U VPN client limitations

I'd rather not lower the encryption level, to be honest I think whatever traffic I have on the devices behind VPN can cope with 15mbit, I was just doing the math when I thought about CPU limitation and my VPN capped at 15mbit, so I wanted to confirm that is the reason :D HW accel is on.

Wireless router with openvpn client support

Thanks for the answer. So the options are: - if I don't really need more than 15mbit on VPNed devices, shut up and live your life :) - save money for something expensive - or use up more vpn accounts to enable the vpn on the separate devices (assuming they have a better cpu than the router)

    N66U VPN client limitations

Thanks guys, good to know. My friend later specified he uses pptp, which should make quite a difference, although I wouldn't have expected 240mbit :) For completeness: - NordVPN defaults: AES-256-CBC - Merlin's fork from John v23 - HW accel enabled I believe Such a nice router, and now I have...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

@john9527 I doubt it has anything to do with the fork, but perhaps you are the best to confirm that and perhaps shed some light on the router limitations. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/n66u-vpn-client-limitations.38740/

    N66U VPN client limitations

Hi, I have my VPN capped always at 15mbit (on 120 available), and I thought they were throttling traffic although they say they don't. Today I realized that my router might be the issue, so I tried: - vpn on router: >85% cpu, 15mbit - vpn on laptop: <1% cpy, 62mbit - no vpn: <1% cpu, 95mbit So...

Wireless router with openvpn client support

Hi, I am likely going to subscribe to nordvpn at my parents' house. Their connection is currently crap (promised 16mbit for 20 years, they are lucky if they ever got 10 across all the lying providers). I already have nordvpn and although they say no throttling, my 120mbit behind vpn becomes...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

hey @john9527 , before I flash back latest, I am going to send you privately current syslog, since I can confirm that I had none of the reported issues anymore after over 5 days uptime with v22. and somehow it might be relevant since I did not change the vpn client configuration (it is provided...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Thanks a lot for the help! Do you want me to try this in order to troubleshoot your new version with 2.4.x, or should I stay a while with the v22 that I just restored in order to confirm it is a version bump issue?

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

You are correct, and I tried also without. But why should it start malfunctioning after a while? And my jffs has only one nat script with 2 lines .

ok, no answer again, I'll try to go back to v22 and see if that goes back to normal.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

@john9527 did you have a chance to think what these (probably) related issues could be or what I could provide to pinpoint the issue? It happens at least twice per week and I couldn't see any obvious reason from the logs. Summary: my cabled linux satellite receiver going through vpn (nordvpn)...

And I just noticed for the second time that phones (my laptop seemed fine) lose connectivity for a few seconds every couple of minutes. Very annoying when playing online.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Hi John, I have an issue since 374.43_2-23E3j9527. One of m devices (my linux satellite receiver) after a while loses internet connectivity. It is actually connected to the router and has the usual local IP, but cannot get out. A router reboot solves it. I sent you a PM with the syslog.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I am interested in this as well. At my parents' house, no matter which provider or provided modem/router, running p2p (for example torrent) kills everything else. Having changed many providers, hard to tell where is the culprit (I heard that often ISPs throttle it, especially in Italy). In...

And that'll teach me not to trust my tests just before sleeping :)

You misunderstood :) I inverted them yesterday, now they are correct and the values make sense, although with no other traffic I don't see any benefit with QoS and also the test doesn't show improvements for the C bufferbloat.
