Should IoT devices be on their own network?

You may want some devices on your network and not on the guest work. For instance, if you put a network printer on a guest network, you won't be able to access it. It will be isolated from the rest of the network. Same with a media server. It doesn't work very well to have a network media...

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

Sorry to hear your experience. Firmware 41712 has been good with my AX92us. Firmware 41535 on AX92u was a nightmare - constant crashes and slow speed. Firmware 386.40451 worked well with AP but crashed with AI Mesh. After you've reset your router, checked cable, and cycled modem on/off - if...

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

    1. Click on the Guest Network. 2. Click the Guest Network you want to enable/modify. You will then get the below menu. From that menu, toggle the SYNC to AIMesh node. You can select Router Only or All.

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

I believe that is correct. The guest network is isolated by the AX92u. So it does not have access to the rest of your LAN. So it would not receive an IP address from Pi-hole.

    Let's Encrypt Status: Authorizing

Latest firmware upgrade for AX92u also fixed the letsencrypt stuck on authorizing issue. So it looks like ASUS is starting to roll out the fix.

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

One other thing to check is cables. Bad cables or loose cables can lead to unexpected errors. It's always a "D'oh!" moment for me when I've spent hours trouble shooting and then discover it was a bad cable.

How's you guest network on the node? Does it work? And does it isolate each client?

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

Here's an edited log leading up to and through the event -- It didn't cause a crash -- no crash log or reset of router. Jan 26 17:49:31 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(490): eth7: Deauth_ind Jan 26 17:49:31 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(490): eth7: Deauth_ind Jan 26 17:49:31 wlceventd...

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

I've been up on the new firmware for 1 day 7 hours (Router and AP) - no crashes - but the watchdog got fired, yesterday evening. It didn't lead to a crash but it did generate an error in the system log.

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

I'm not entirely certain -- maybe when you set up guest network, set the "SYNC to AIMesh Node" to "All" instead of just "ROUTER ONLY". If your connecting to the node and do a lan scan and you can't access other network clients, the guest network is working OK. If you can access other network...

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

I'd also like to hear some people's reactions that are using AI Mesh. If you run AIMesh node, let me know how it is. I'd like to hear about the Guest Network update. Is Guest Wifi more stable running on Nodes now? At first, Guest Network wasn't available on the nodes and then when it became...

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

It's pretty much stock - I will change over the roam assist to -65 after I upgrade my AP. I want to wait a few days before I do that one, though. Other than that, it's pretty much standard. On the general tab, I pick control channels. Those will vary depending on congestion. Also, I enable...

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

I I upgraded this evening. So far everything is working good. With 1 gbps (download /40 mbs upload) service and after clean reset, I'm getting 940 mbs (down and 40 mbs) hard wired. 900 mbps (down and 40mbs up) wireless at the router. After turning on the my usual features, AI Protection...

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

I don't see the firmware on ASUS's website. From the notes, it does appear they fixed LetsEncrypt. That was broken in December 2020 when Let'sEncrypt did an upgrade. So if that is fixed, it should be an improvement. No need to self-sign certs.

    Which router Both are TP-Link. AX1800 (Archer AX21) $100 or AC2600 (Archer A10) $110

FYI - Target was clearing out the TP Link AC2300 for $42. You may want to check your local target. They were clearing out a bunch of networking equipment. If that goes into your equation - it's a hard price to beat. They had around 3 at my Target - but you have to be careful, the AC 1750 was...

    RT-AX92u - Stable firmware

The firmware you're using has been remove by ASUS. It appears they mistakenly put it out. There's quite a bit of discussion about it here: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/ax92u-slow-internet-speedtest-after-upgrade-to-3-0-0-4-386_41535-g1caa24a-firmware.68884/ So, you need to downgrade your...

AX92U - slow internet speedtest after upgrade to 3.0.0.4.386_41535-g1caa24a firmware

If you have a problem downgrading directly to 40451, you can go to 9177 and then back up to 40451. That seems to work better. If you're using AI Mesh, depending on your setup, 40451 drops wifi, as you're explaining. I use AP mode instead of AI Mesh and 40451 is very stable. 9177 seems more...
