    PPTP Server - WINS Setting

I have an Asus RT-AC88U Router configured with Asuswrt-Merlin ver 384.18. The LAN address of the router is 192.168.133.1. I have configured the LAN DHCP Server of the router with WINS address 192.168.133.21. I then configured the router's PPTP Server with "Connect to WINS Server...

    Strange VPN Routing Issue

I have two locations, both with Asus-Merlin routers running 384.18. I have an OpenVPN tunnel connecting the two locations. At my main office, I have a Windows 2003 server connected to the LAN with IP Address 192.168.133.21. At my remote location, I have a Windows 10 laptop connected to the...

    Can't Login to GUI

A better question would be whether going back to an older software release would solve the problem.

Asus Merlin - Is there a development road map?

I can understand that because this is so intermittent, it is a very difficult issue to diagnose. Is there any way that I can help you figure out what is going on? Is there some way we can get a diagnostic dump of the router when it gets into this state or have some detailed diagnostic traces...

    Can't Login to GUI

Had another instance of one of my routers (ver 384.18) have the GUI disappear today (10/22/20). Same symptoms as before. Router seemed to be working, except for the inability to access the GUI or SSH. Had to power cycle router to get access to the GUI. Last syslog entry was on 10/14/22)...

Asus Merlin - Is there a development road map?

The ABSOLUTE top priority needs to be fixing the ongoing stability problem that randomly makes the GUI disappear. I have 7 routers running Asus-Merlin Ver 384.18, and most of them are having this issue every month or two. There are a lot of other people having the same issue. See this thread...

    Can't Login to GUI

This is similar to what I have observed. If I am lucky enough to be able to login to SSH, and issue a REBOOT command, at least half the time the router does not reboot successfully, and I have to do a power cycle to get it back up.

    Can't Login to GUI

It would be nice if there was a hardware diagnostic available for Asus routers.

    Can't Login to GUI

My experience is when the router locks up SSH doesn’t work either. The only solution is to power cycle the router, which is hard to do when you are not on site.

Traffic Monitor - What is the Green Trace?

That is really NOT intuitively obvious. Why not just show the blue and orange traces so that the smaller trace is always in front of the higher trace? Or make the two traces opaque so you can see the hidden trace? Thanks for explaining this.

Traffic Monitor - What is the Green Trace?

I have attached a screen shot of the Real Time Traffic Monitor on my Asus Router running Ver 384.18. What is the Green trace?

OpenVPN Servers - Different Usernames for Two Servers

I have an Asus RT-AC88U router running Asuswrt-Merlin 384.18. I am trying to configure both OpenVPN Servers, with each server having different Username / Passwords. It appears that everytime I add a username/password to one server, it also appears on the second server. Is it possible to...

    Can't Login to GUI

You may be having a different problem than the rest of us. When the GUI disappears on my routers, a lot of other stuff seems to also quit working behind the scenes. While the routers typically still seem to operate, the syslog no longer updates. Who knows what else is also screwed up.

Routing from WAN to LAN on Asus Router

My Telco is just as baffled about this as I am. We suspect that the Telco modem/router either isn't handling NAT properly, when the traffic is coming from the Asus router subnet, or the Telco router is not properly handling the static route for traffic coming from the fiber WAN port. In the...

Routing from WAN to LAN on Asus Router

I have a static route for the bunkhouse LAN in the main cabin modem/router. This works, as I can ping from my laptop in the main cabin to other devices in the bunkhouse. Why this doesn't work for internet traffic has me baffled. I have a tech support call in to my Telco to see if they can...

Routing from WAN to LAN on Asus Router

If you configure an Asus Router as an AP, none of the OpenVPN functionality is available. Unfortunately, the Fiber Optic Modem/Router that is provided by my Telco does not support any VPN functionality.

Routing from WAN to LAN on Asus Router

Turning off NAT and the Firewall in the bunkhouse router solves the problem of accessing devices on the bunkhouse LAN from the main cabin LAN. I can ping everything in both directions. However, now I can't access anything from the bunkhouse LAN on the internet. If I do a Tracert from the...

Routing from WAN to LAN on Asus Router

I am using the Asus Router as an OpenVPN Server so I can access my cabin from home, which is not possible if I switch to AP mode.

Routing from WAN to LAN on Asus Router

I have a cabin with a Fiber Optic Modem / Router supplied by my local telco (LAN Address 192.168.200.1). I have a bunkhouse with an Asus RT-AC68R router (LAN Address 192.168.201.1; WAN Address 192.168.200.2) running Asuswrt Merlin 384.18. The bunkhouse router has a hardwire connection from the...

Firewall Not Blocking inbound SIP Traffic

I have an RT-AC68U router running Asuswrt Merlin running 384.18. I have the firewall enabled. I have a SIP VOIP phone connected to the router on my LAN. Today, I started getting a tone of ghost calls on the phone. I turned on the packet trace and discovered lots of inbound SIP traffic from a...
