What has Draft 11n done for (to) you?

I have to be honest: nothing. At first I thought I would wait for the final specification of N, but draft N is so wide-spread these days, I don't think this would be a problem (anymore). But for me personally it has no additional value, since the only reason I use my wireless network is...

    Which NAS do you use?

    Very true, no arguments here...

What's a good router these days?

I can's speak for Matthi, but my experience with cheaper D-Link routers is they tend to fail quite often and easy, and also need to be rebooted a lot because they seem to loose their connection sometimes (ok, this might have been fixed with firmware updates in the last couple of months/years)...

    Which NAS do you use?

Brandon, a question for you: will SNB review Open-e and Openfiler someday? There are not many online reviews to find on this NAS OS'es...

    Which NAS do you use?

It is? That's probably a Windows 2003 thing, because software RAID in Linux is sometimes even faster than a (cheap) hardware RAID adapter. Another plus is it's more future proof. Because if a hardware controller fails and you can't find an exact replacement, there's a good chance you're SOL'd.

    Is Powerline Networking Dead?

This is true. Before the IPTV was introduced in Belgium, almost nobody knew about powerline adapters. No not at all. The IPTV providers made the correct choice with powerline instead of WiFi IMHO. It's a lot easier to install, and it (almost) always works without a hitch. The connection is...

Windows Home Server, Yay or nay?

Heh. I have to admit that I've been so blinded with the 'I-have-to-have-a-server'-idea, that I overlooked the possibility of indeed simply using a dedicated Windows XP box for the task. This might not be a bad idea. All WHS functions that matter are installable in XP (like backup...

What's a good router these days?

Two choices: -either the more expensive D-Link range like D-Link DIR-655, or DGL-4500 OR - (if it may be a bit more expensive) anything by Draytek. Draytek routers are hands down THE best routers I've ever had the pleasure to work with. Extremely configurable and stable. Their...

    NAS Max Transfer Speed Questions.

This is not a direct answer to your question, but with my WHS I was able to sustain 70 - 75 MB/s write speed. It's logical I couldn't get any higher since my HD's aren't faster than that.

Windows Home Server, Yay or nay?

In my case, it's nay! Not the way it functions right now anyway. The culprit in my opinion is the Drive Extender feature, which is a feature especially designed to make the life of the WHS user easier. Too bad it really kills performance once you start using more than one drive (which is...

    Which NAS do you use?

You forgot an important one: Windows Home Server. Microsoft might not like the comparison, but essentially it's also a NAS, expandable with add-ons. I'm very curious about this poll also. If you read my post about my experiences with WHS you'll know why. I'm still looking for a good...
