Flexible, Powerful Router. What's best for me?

Looking in the UK I'm not finding much (ebay.co.uk). Can you see any ideal examples from different brands which might server as perfect examples of what you mean? I'm a little wary of second hand goods, I'm probably being overcautious. Out of interest I thought I'd see how much a new Mini PC...

Flexible, Powerful Router. What's best for me?

Hi, I'm looking for a little guidance/reinforcement on purchasing/building a new router. My goals are as follows: - I'd like to run pfSense. Why? Because I believe it provides me with total control and flexibility for now and in the future. - I need the hardware to be able to perform 900Mbps+...

    Wireguard Wireguard

Having said that. Right now I'm eyeing up buying a Dell RS210 ii and putting PFSense on it. Just looking for some nice UK based references (for hardware) on getting things working etc. The main reason I'm looking at this is VPN speeds. I'd like to hit 900Mbps (1Gbps)

    Wireguard Wireguard

I do actually already own two ZenWiFi AX (XT8). I utilise my RT-AC5300 as my main router with the two ZenWiFi AX (XT8) as nodes in my AI Mesh. I guess it would be worth selling the RT-AC5300 and using one of the ZenWiFi AX (XT8)'s as a router? I believe this can be done?

Private Internet Access - Port Forwarding

Yeah I did read that they make it, painful :) The thing is I'm not sure how much I trust other VPNs. For example, I'd never trust Express VPN. Is AirVPN any good in terms of logs?

Private Internet Access - Port Forwarding

Bah! I've just seen that above link requires wireguard which I know doesnt function on my router. So I guess that's that?

Private Internet Access - Port Forwarding

Hi, I'm trying to make my NAS accessible when utilising my Private Internet Access VPN. I assume to do this I need port forwarding? I've found the below, which I believe might be what I'm looking for: Manual PIA VPN Connections https://github.com/pia-foss/manual-connections However, it...

    Wireguard Wireguard

Yep thats what I thought. Thanks for confirming.

    Wireguard Wireguard

Hi, From what I've seen I think the answer is no, but I wanted to double check. Will Asus Merlin be able to allow for wireguard at some point? Or is it simply not possible due to limitations. If it helps, I'm running a ASUS RT-AC5300 Many Thanks

Private Internet Access - Port Forwarding

Hi, I'm trying to make my NAS accessible when utilising my VPN. I assume to do this I need port forwarding? I've found this which I believe might be what I'm looking for: PIA Port forwaded VPN Connections on Synology https://github.com/steff2632/manual-connections However, it doesn't appear...

Redirect Internet traffic through tunnel based on port

This all sounds great but I understand none of it haha I'm guessing overall what appears simple (i.e. control your traffic), is a lot more difficult in practice.

    VPN Slowdown

That's interesting and annoying at the same time :) My NAS has a INTEL Celeron J3455 with a clock of 1.5GHz which doesn't appear to be much slower than the router I have with it's Broadcom BCM4709C0 @1.4GHz

    VPN Slowdown

Okay, this next question is probably a silly one but... :) What is the most powerful (and I guess therefore best) router Asuswrt-Merlin supports?

    VPN Slowdown

Hi, I have a "RT-AC5300" I run a VPN Client using Private Internet Access. My "normal" WAN connection speed is 100 Mbps. However, when utilising the VPN the connection is limited to 47Mbps and I'd like to figure out why this is the case. It's worth noting that the same connection on my NAS...

Redirect Internet traffic through tunnel based on port

On another note, given this request has come up previously. I assume RMerlin said it's not possible to better integrate such a feature? (I.E. easily utilised via the user interface) I know sometimes there are restrictions not that I understand them. Do you know if anyone asked?

Redirect Internet traffic through tunnel based on port

Okay, so it is possible? Now a dumb question I expect, what do I do with the above? Does it get entered into my "Custom Configuration" section. Or do I apply it some other way? I've not messed with this before.

Redirect Internet traffic through tunnel based on port

Hi, I'd like to control the direction traffic goes in based on the port of that traffic. Is this possible? For example, all traffic on port 80 would be "unchanged" / "normal". While all traffic on port "3000" would go via a VPN client. As a note, I already have defined via the VPN Director...

Small dead spot, what node should I buy?

I've tried moving the nodes around, the room is simply a dead spot both in and out. So it needs its own node inside. I certainly don't want to buy another ZenWifi AX node for a single room as that would be overkill for my needs and the cost is to much. I'm wondering if I could buy a ASUS...

Small dead spot, what node should I buy?

Hey, I've got the following setup: Router - RT-AC5300 Node 1 - ZenWifi AX Node 2 - ZenWifi AX This setup is entirely built with an ethernet backhaul and it pretty much covers my entire house and garden apart from one room, my garage. What I'd like to do is add one additional node to this setup...

    Export Web History

I did read it like that, but then I thought... No surely they can't be saying that's a feature. They might as well say, you can program your own ideas to haha :)
