Cisco RV vs EdgeRouter vs PepLink Balance vs ________ for Dual WAN Failover Router

While I agree with the biggest part of your argument, I have to consider the current shortage in chips, plus the pandemic that has postponed R&D for many products. Maybe Cisco waits until the last moment (October 2022) in order to develop a better model or just deliver a new model. Sony and...

Cisco RV vs EdgeRouter vs PepLink Balance vs ________ for Dual WAN Failover Router

Yes there is and the cost is about $13. You can get the EdgeRouter X - 5 ports (no SFP) + a cheap TP-link 4G router instead of a usb cellular.

Cisco RV vs EdgeRouter vs PepLink Balance vs ________ for Dual WAN Failover Router

I wouldn’t invest on Edgerouters either. The ER-X is value for money and ER4 is a great performer for the money you spend, but nothing more expensive than those two.

Cisco RV vs EdgeRouter vs PepLink Balance vs ________ for Dual WAN Failover Router

This is the setup wizard for load balancing / failover on Edgerouter. You may add more than 2 WAN interfaces. I have not tried it to see how reliable it is, though.

Cisco RV vs EdgeRouter vs PepLink Balance vs ________ for Dual WAN Failover Router

I have been using Edgerouter for a year. A wizard helps you set it as WAN, Switch (depending on model) and Dual Wan wilth loadbalance or failover. This wizard is very simple and it sets firewall rules as well. Qos is also simple to setup. I have not used VPN on it. It supports L2tP and Openvpn...

    Advice on small business router

What is "business equipment"? Cisco Meraki and HPE Aruba? Sure yes The ex-linksys RV series and Netgear Orbi? Probably no. You may sell it to someone as a business router because it says Cisco on it, but here we know that an asus that is well tuned and upgrated to custom firmware, might be a...

Dual Stack home network pros and cons

Most DoS attacks come from IPv4 and unpatched routers and IoT devices. If a device is patched and updated, then IPv6 posses no threat and IPv4 will not save you.

Dual Stack home network pros and cons

@Tech9 try DNS that do not use EDNS Client Subnet (ECS), like Cloudflare.

Dual Stack home network pros and cons

Also EDNS Client Subnet has problems with IPv6 and DNS servers send you to servers far away. Check this post from Adguard DNS https://adguard.com/en/blog/dns-google-domains-fixed.html

Dual Stack home network pros and cons

Parental Controls are based on domain lists, so they still work when the sites use IPv6 or dynamic IPv4 that changes frequently.

Dual Stack home network pros and cons

I believe the most important part, after security of course, is how big is the amount of servers on the internet that use IPv6. Because if it is only Google and FB, then maybe it's not worth it. One way to test this is to remove IPv4 from your pc and leave only IPv6 with a v6 DNS. Can you reach...

Dual Stack home network pros and cons

Off topic: If your internet connection is behind CG-NAT and you still need to access your computers behind it, you can use a solution like Tailscale or Zerotier

Dual Stack home network pros and cons

Let's say that I connect to 500 servers each day, for mail, web browsing, gaming etc How many of them use IPv6? I believe only those who are behind cloudflare, do. So, I have disabled IPv6 for practical reasons. If I enable Ipv6 only without Ipv4, internet will be unusable.

Ubiquity Edgerouters are reliable and get updates every 6 months or so. Get the ER-4 or higher.
