I think you made a wise choice with getting another RT 5300. This GT 5300 has been a nightmare for me. I would not currently recommend this router to anyone that games casual or more competitive. Mine seems to be riddled with issues. What do you like about fq_codel in regards for gaming? Is it...

I'm not aware of any special ports for Xbox either. Except for port 3544. It seems to be the only port that has anything to do with IPv6. Teredo tunneling 6to4. MS came up with this and it might send some data using IPv6. But its kind of a grey area to be honest. Even here in the US IPv6 seems...

Thanks Rolo for your reply.. You know years back we always had an option to put our modem in bridge mode. But over the years that feature has disappeared. I think when my ISP provisions any modem it takes features like that out. And yes I can directly connect my xbox to the modem and it will...

Does anyone know if having a double NAT if that could cause some problems with online gaming? I'm wondering if that maybe my issue with this slowing effect I'm getting while gaming online? And is not really the router but the fact that I might actually being going through a double NAT. The game...

You did a much better way of explaining it.. My experiences have never been good when talking to most ISP. Specially your bigger type. It honestly takes me a good 15mins just going through there menu before I get a human.

You wont find any vci settings in this router as far as I'm aware of. This router is a Ethernet router not a ATM router. Unless I'm missing something.. But currently is your modem in bridge mode or don't you know because those settings are gone? I feel the problem is on the modem side.

Put your Actiontec into transparent bridge mode then go into your ASUS router and click on the WAN tab and make sure its set up for PPPoE. You may also have to enter your password and credentials in there in order for it to work.. Give that a try. Good luck!

I noticed something when port forwarding. When I open selected ports in the WAN Virtual server/port forward do I also need to open ports in the Gamers Profile? I'm confused why we have two areas.. I'm just wondering if we need to open at both.. Also as far as UPnP if using port forwarding...

Thanks Chris.. I have Charter Spectrum so I will have to see if that's an acceptable modem.. Broadcom chip is the one I was told to get.. I just sure hope being on a residential connection and not a business connection is my cause.. Last time I checked I think the SB6183 was acceptable with...

Ive been starting to wonder the same thing about my modem to be honest. Funny thing is I was told to stay away from any modem that runs the Puma 6 chipset. Which by what ive come across so far is a lot of brands use this chipset. But not all models. The tricky part is to find out which ones dont...

Thanks! I can say for sure I'm definitely not stressing this router out with too many devices. I'm thinking a factory reset is in order. Does a factory reset bring the router back to its original firmware that it came with out of the box?

Can I ask how one clears the NVRAM? Or does doing a factory reset accomplish this? On this particular router how do we do a factory reset? I just want to make sure I'm doing everything correctly.. I currently am not using any of the gaming options. When I enable them the router really slows...

Hey Maahfu! Thanks for your reply. I'm still keeping a very open mind about this router. So I'm not giving up yet. You are correct that very little info does flow through the internet. What I should also add is this game runs at 60fps and at 4K. I'm just trying to figure out if there is...

I would say one of the strong points to this router is the WiFi.. But with that said hard wired is always best for gaming. But as a gamer this router continues to give me an issue where when I'm playing a fast pace fps game the game physically slows down for some odd reason. I have a hunch what...

Hey everyone.. I have a question about the port forwarding on this router. Ive always been curious to know what is suppose to go into all the blank fields in the port forwarding section of this router. I noticed that port forwarding.com doesn't show anything in a few fields and I was wondering...

So are you saying that not to use port 1 or 2 and just use another port? Then I can set up QoS and it should work? I guess trying anything at this point cant hurt a thing.. I like to use the QoS to help fine tune any buffer bloat. That really helps when it comes to fps games..
