    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

You know all this does NOT make any sense? I mean most of the users have the disable hw acce set to No (default) and they upgraded and never had any issues? WTH?? Have you download the fw one more time when you upgraded the second time?

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

To recap, you had: Disable hw set to ? before the upgrade Disable hw set to ? after the upgrade (when you changed it exactly?) It's a pity to see Asus saying NOTHING lately...Any of you got any info lately from Adam or others? Thanks!

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

Can you please comment which router is better from only the hw point of view? I asked this question weeks ago and no one commented, although there seem to be such debate between 4200 and N66.. Thanks!

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

For both releases Disable H/W means the same thing: Disable H/W oYES oNO For 90 you needed to set this to YES in order for port fwd to work from inside For 96 port fwd should work from inside regardless of the setting I use VPN server and a VPN client to control my receiver.

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

This can't be that easy, just to have disable hw=YES? Let me tell you when I upgraded mine it was like that disable=YES, not sure what I did afterwards if I put it back to NO (one would want hw acceleration right?) before the mess started... Please do mess with radio power. You use port fwd do...

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

You mean you had disable HW acceleration set to no before upgrading correct? Please advise as this is very important if you will not get the issues again. Also please make sure you try/do a lot of testing.

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

But you are not using any NAT loopback or port fwd are you?
  8. G

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

You said it all: "Note that I do not have anything connected to the USB ports and am not using NAT loopback." Expect no issues with stability.

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

Thanks for taking the time to read through my summary. I already fwd-ed all this to Asus, although I'm unsure if they will ever read it.

FW_RT_N66U_B1_300396 issues - Summary Guys, I have been reading all you guy's inputs as far as the new fw and issues or not issues and IMHO some known facts are: -the issues don't seem to be related to USB devices connected (various users reported not having issues with USB connected)...

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

No I did not have a hdd connected to USB and still experienced disconnects, very unstable. From what I gathered so far the disconnects in the 96 fw are most likely due to the NAT loopback fix or a combination of this and one more(dlna?). Maybe the people not experiencing the issues don't ever...

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

Before I got my 66U I had a 56U for 2 months. Before I purchased it I read on Internet that VZ Network extender didn't work with 56U. It was just a matter of upgrading the asus fw and then it did work. Also for 2 months I was able to access my corporate via VPN w/o issues. Not sure what...

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

Funny you mentioned this, I now have the 66U and my old DIR-655...For now the old router is not in use anymore because 66U beast covers all very good (talking about 8k sf house)...At some point I might give it a try to install it in the basement though....I also have many wifi clients google tv...

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

Well in that case it does seem like something is wrong with the router. Too bad you don't have another PC...Anyhow, I still think that maybe something bad is stuck in sw somewhere, and that the hw might be good but I could be wrong. You did say you initialize all on this router, that is nvram...

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

Is there any way you can use just RT-N66U in router mode? No other boxes, and then connect the PC to one of its ports?
  16. G

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

-Have you used the same cables to connect to both routers? -Perhaps you have a setting that screws up the auto negotiation of link speed on RT-N66U? The best way to eliminate this is to use default settings. Also I assume you already tried more than just one PC right? Please let us know. G37x

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

last fw Asus update: Nothing is wrong with this! Asus just told me that aside from one unit with a minor crash after the install, which was fixed with a factory reset, they have not been able to reproduce the reported instability users have had. Units have been tested over 24 hours of uptime at...

I know, aside from the known bugs that fw is solid for me also.

    ASUS RT-N66U - my review

I know I have been there, slowly everyone will report issues with this fw...Anyways you need to put back the router to the previous fw. You will see that it comes up and down, for that short time is up you need to start loading the previous fw.
