    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

I have done factory reset 50 times. I’ve cleared JFFS. there is no recovery mode on next gen devices. I’ve used both ASUS - multiple versions - and Merlin - back to his first next gen firmware. not to be rude, but you think I haven’t tried just about everything? 35 years into networking and...

    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

I should clarify the above and "failure" - either the radios are degrading, or - out of presumably nowhere, but as you can read in the thread, firmware updates appear to trigger something - the issue is that repeaters fail to re-connect to the main router. I'm using an RT-AC5300 which was in the...

    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

if multiple AC68U = fine, GT-AC5300 = fine, but AX11000 and AC3200 = both went bad within two years... I blame spotty parts. My AT&T fiber gateway+ONT = fine. Other devices have all been okay. MacBook chargers don't get overly warm (they have recently at other homes/hotels)... so...

    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

ASUS initially stonewalled me - they asked a litany of questions that were nonsense. And then it was back to "what devices are you connecting" when the core problem is that it will not reconnect after a power outage (and loses ability to operate after a couple of days). Yes, temperature has been...

    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

Ultimately, as per original topic - radios degrade and burn out, I get it. If I pay $129.99 at Costco for a Netgear router, I know what I'm signing up for. Shiny hard plastic, wobbly feet, and dual band. But my beef with ASUS is that as they've crept up in price - now >$500 - the radios still...

    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

my entire family doesn't have cancer. Cancer must be the fault of all cancer patients. Same asinine logic. Yes, I have AC68U's that are fine. Yet AC3200, AC5300, and AX11000 have radios failing after two years. Must be my fault, not the routers.

i have them plugged into UPS (mini or full)

    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

Agree. First, we're not talking about one unit - this is now over 50 ASUS units I've seen degrade or stop functioning properly within 12-24 months (as defined by unable to get wired and/or wireless connection, not subjective speed/performance). Second, ASUS refuses to stand behind their units...

    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

After years with this brand (and dicking around resetting and fixing routers) I’m done. tech support useless. Won’t talk just email and chat. well, now it’s time (after 8 weeks) to put the screws to them. For those considering ASUS (doubtful here) - don’t.

    Horrible Asus support - AX11000/escalations

I have 30 back and forth asking the most asinine questions. Like what Speedtest and devices when nothing can connect at all. Thankfully my GT-AC5300 main (purchased late 2021) has been rock solid. The AX11000 is simply an extender, and unfortunately now running stock Asus firmware.

    Horrible Asus support - AX11000/escalations

After 20 years of using Asus devices, i've had a horrible experience with them. Long story short - AX11000 is flawed - wireless or controller burns out - escalations continues to ask same questions and refuses to do real-time diagnosis. Anyone else have a way to get to an RMA quickly? And/or...

ASUS GT-AX11000 dropping out? How do I troubleshoot?

I've reset mine 25 times now - still crap

ASUS GT-AX11000 dropping out? How do I troubleshoot?

Mine is now in real trouble - overnight, my AX11000 lost the 5G-2 band, the UI crashed (could not access), and wired connections could not connect. The last time I got in, it thought the link rate with the main router was 4800Mbps. All local connections get loopback (169.254.x.x) addresses...

ASUS GT-AX11000 dropping out? How do I troubleshoot?

Temperature isn't the issue - I have an AC68U in my attic which runs warm in the summer (obviously) and cool in winter (obviously) and I haven't cooked it yet. My GT-AX11000 and GT-AC5300 run pretty cool. Radios in the 40's, CPU in the 60's.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 is now available

For those USING THE AX11000 as a repeater, are you able or UNABLE to change WiFi settings? I've attempted to change channel bandwidth, disable/re-enable WiFi 6, and so forth - and it keeps resetting to what it was prior. As a GATEWAY (normal mode), I can change these without issue.

ASUS GT-AX11000 dropping out? How do I troubleshoot?

Hey folks - I have an AX11000, and am having the same exact issues. Before people jump to "it was attacked by Russia," it's not exposed to the internet in any way. I think things are going on with AX11000's. Merlin 386.5 appears to have been the trigger point, but things were acting up before that.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 is now available

Appears that a backup I took two years ago (!!!) may have fixed my 5Ghz-high issues (not sure, could take days to confirm). webUI is faster, link rate/bandwidth faster, wired performance back to normal, and wireless also solid.

    Smart Connect? Or Roaming Assistant?

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 is now available

Absolutely ditto / same issue - and then my second 5Ghz crashed overnight after stable during the weekend.
