    Iomega px2-300d Adding More RAM

Review of px2-300d Published: Thursday, 29 November 2012 11:26 Written by Tim Higgins Looking at the inside pictures of the NAS, it appears that there is an extra RAM slot to add more RAM. In the review, the NAS was taken apart to show the PCB. I'm wondering how difficult it would be to...

Really Basic L2 Managed Switch Question

Thanks so much for your explanation. It makes a lot of sense to me now. Interestingly, I've noticed that I've had to restart Win7 routinely after very large file transfers from NAS to NAS or external USB router HDD to get things back to "normal" on the desktop. Apparently, to clear the cache...

Really Basic L2 Managed Switch Question

Need to mention: The px2-300d NAS is configured for NIC link aggregation bonding LACP (IEEE802.3ad) on the NAS and the TP-Link TL-SG3216 L2 switch supports LAG and LACP and it's configured for LACP on the switch.

Really Basic L2 Managed Switch Question

I built the desktop in 2009 for HTPC/Gaming...it's a first gen X58 mobo, LGA 1366 Core i7 with an updated Core i7 960. 9GB DDR3-1333 seemed reasonable then. I have a Radeon HD 6970 for graphics...for what I do or how I use the comp, the specs seem ok for now. The desktop SATA drives are...

Really Basic L2 Managed Switch Question

Really Basic L2 Managed Switch Question

OK...thanks, I'll check the NICs. Yes, I initiate the copy jobs from my desktop PC to copy or move large (GBs) files to and from NASs to NASs or NASs to USB 3.0 HDD (attached to router) or visa versa. It does seem faster when transferring directly from PC to NAS or to the UBS 3.0 HDD...

Really Basic L2 Managed Switch Question

Gradually Decreasing Throughput Curious...why does my Win7 desktop slow to a snails pace when I transfer large amounts of data from / to network devices e.g., desktop to NAS, NAS to NAS, NAS to / from router USB 3.0 external HDD. I have plenty of RAM on the desktop 9GB, i7 quad core CPU, and...

Really Basic L2 Managed Switch Question

Thanks again for your feedback. My NICs are Realtek...the Flow Control option is either Tx & Rx Enabled or Disabled. I'll disable Flow Control on the switch and NICs. Seems as though most, if not all posts I've read, tend to suggest disabling Flow Control entirely in order to prevent pause...

Really Basic L2 Managed Switch Question

Thanks so much for the tip! I used 10.0.0.25 for the static IP for the switch, 10.0.0.1 for the switch gateway, using the same subnet and the NTP server pinged successfully. I can also access the switch GUI using the 10.0.0.25 IP. RE: Jumbo Frames...it seems to make no difference in...

Really Basic L2 Managed Switch Question

I'm new to L2 managed switch's for home use. I recently purchased a TP-Link TL-SG3216 switch (installed latest FW). My LAN chain is ATT U-Verse RG modem (Internet only)--->Netgear R6300v2 WiFi Gigabit router--->TP-Link L2 Switch--->Windows comps Gigabit NICS/two NASs Gigabit NICs/AVR/Oppo/HDTV...

    Bluetooth Audio Streaming

Well, while Bluetooth may not be in the networking mainstream realm, it'd be great to see comprehensive reviews of Bluetooth audio streaming performance and specs like we see from SNB for other wireless networking devices. Also, there are many, many reviews of networking devices on YouTube...

    Belkin N+ Wireless Router Reviewed

Belkin N+ I purchased the N+ to replace my Linksys 10/100 wired router to create a wired gigabit network for four desktops (they have a gigabit NIC and/or gigabit port). I'll turn on wireless when I need to. The gigbabit LAN / WAN and price ~$80 were the main reasons to switch out routers...
