    Thanks Merlin, I use PIA, and when I run OpenVPN from my actual computer, not the router, I get maxed throughput, with very little slowdown of the VPN. Basically caps my raw connection. So the router is definitely the bottleneck here. I'm just wondering if I'm neglecting any settings...
