    Change eth0 (wan) IP address

Are you sure you're doing ALL steps correctly (both modem and router side)? It's not only setting that option to "no", you have to do some prior steps at modem-side in order to be able to "hook" it from router-side. I'm using this method myself and its working flawlessly. I'd took some...

    Asus Download Master Update

I have an RT-AC87U. Don't know which version 86 uses, but 9.x is also reachable by modifing the link in first post (nw-dlcdnet.asus.com/asusware/arm/stable/downloadmaster_9.1.0.104_arm.ipk). You can run "ipkg list_installed" to know which version you are running atm. Cheers!

    Asus Download Master Update

Hello! Reviving this old topic but it might help someone eventually. Once again, Asus update feature didn't get newest version availabe (x.105) and got stucked on earlier one (x.104), so this time I installed it manually myself with this procedure: *Copy manually downloaded ipk to...

    AiCloud GUI question

Thanks for your reply Eric! Found the picture under "default_router.png" name. When trying to overwrite it with desired one I get a "read-only filesystem" error. Tried to change lighttpd permissions first but encountered same issue. Any hints to bypass that restriction? Regards and thanks...

    Overclocking RT-AC87U Question

I don't use VPN so I can't help with that. Mines, without a notebook stand cooler, runs very hot too despite being overclocked or not.

    AiCloud GUI question

Hi! I'm crazy (I know...) but I would like to replace the router's image of AiCloud homepage for my 87U image instead of the provided one (look at the green box in the image below). I have looked all over the router with WinSCP but couldn't find that image to replace for my 87's png. Does...

Possibly been hacked. Need assistant from senior users.

Thanks once again Colin! I have my adsl pppoe modem set up as wan ip gateway at 192.168.1.1, so that seems to be the device generating this traffic. I had disabled its dhcp time ago when setting up bridge mode, but will look into its gui to minimize all generated traffic, if possible. Once...

Possibly been hacked. Need assistant from senior users.

Thanks for your kind reply Colin. I see that sometimes source ip is external (SRC=95.215.0.167) and sometimes it seems like local (SRC=192.168.1.100/107/113/125). Just to learn, what are the different scenarios in this cases? Thanks once again.

    VPN speeds with RT-AC87U

Thanks for the update madfusker. If ever using a vpn + fast ISP, guess I'll have to change gear too. For the time being, no vpn and blazing fast 15Mb connection, still long and prosper life for my 87U =P Cheers!

    Modem hostname

Hi! Sorry @eclp for hijacking your thread, but since you have solved your issue and my question is softly related to yours, I use this topic instead of opening a new one for this tiny question: Is it expected behaviour that when entering WAN ip address manually is it mandatory to enter DNS...

    Overclocking RT-AC87U Question

You're right Joe, I was a bit dramatic saying it is kind of a must. I must have said it may help to achieve stable/higher oc, but also to keep temps on a "confortable" side depending on your ordinary room temps (mine without cooling reached +92º with outside 30º. I know its still on the safe...

    Overclocking RT-AC87U Question

I also use the method provided by Joe (you can also find a little guide here). The "init-start" part is 100% unnecesary, just follow the "services-stop" one. This method does stick between reboots, but you can fix a boot loop by reseting the unit. I would start with 1200/800 to test stability...

    AC86U SMB Tweaking

Reporting back with wired 100mb results. This time I tested both 2.0 and 3.0 ports (using the same 3.0 flash drive stated before). No buffers only still seems the best shot. What confuses me is the fact that both usb 2.0/3.0 are achieving almost the same speeds. Shouldn't 3.0 port be much...
