So Long, Thanks For All The Help

It's quite boring. Once setup it just works and there is nothing to tune and adjust. You'll learn the UI in 2 days, will perhaps play with the options for about a week after. You'll have what you need quickly and may need to find a new hobby. Keep your Asus router... 🤭

Not in the specs, but present inside. They don't turn all the time. U7 Pro Max: First time getting one after about 2 weeks uptime. You can check update history in forums. There are separate updates for Network Application, Apps like InnerSpace, APs and switches firmware. I'm assuming they...

Must be there. Perhaps it never turns on in your environment? Or maybe you have a newer revision of U7 Pro Wall APs, also a possibility.

U6 Mesh works better than RT-AX86U and on lower power. In my environment beats it in both range and throughput. My AP's are currently set at 22dBm or 160mW for 5GHz band and 20dBm or 100mW for 2.4GHz band. Four APs cover easily approximately 6000sqft area. Max power is 26dBm or 400mW.

Yes. It's an AP like all the others, but marketed as Mesh with outdoor use options as it has IPX5 protection. Most of the time people don't have wires outdoors and... marketing decided to use the Mesh in the name. Otherwise all Ubiquiti UniFi APs support wireless mesh. Expected dual-band mesh...

The reason my AP choice was U6 Mesh and the fact they are very small and look really nice. And the RGB light on top, of course. 😬

Yes, you get 2.5GbE WAN/LAN and 3-band Wi-Fi 7. Check which one of the U7 series APs fits better your needs. There is a choice. Just keep in mind U7 APs have a cooling fan inside and not exactly dead silent. May be an issue for some. There is a fan control in software.

You want Cloud Gateway Ultra or Max. They have Gateway, Controller and Switch 3-in-1. You only need to add Access Point. Your RT-AX86U in Ubiquiti gear: - Cloud Gateway Ultra - $129 - U6 Mesh with PoE injector included - $179

The setup and the management are exactly the same like home router. Even easier because the UCG-Ultra/Max have a screen and it shows instructions. On first boot it will show the LAN IP (I believe the default was 192.168.0.1). You can connect to the device with Ethernet and set it up in WebUI or...

Yes and the console looks 1:1 both ways. It's super responsive and you can't tell the difference between local and remote connection. To answer both @ATLga and @Justinh questions: UniFi system has 4 components: - Gateway - Controller - Switch - Access point What we have with @GHammer is Gateway, Controller, Switch in 1 device (Cloud Gateway Ultra/Max) and we add Access Point(s). I also have 2x additional switches in my...

RT-AX88U Merlin Parental Control not working

Most likely your browser is doing DoH now automatically.

RT-AX88U Merlin Parental Control not working

Parental Controls not working means the traffic goes around Trend Micro App filtering. You have to find why is this happening in order to fix it. Clients with DoH DNS encryption or running VPN will go through router's filtering.

MikroTik is more popular in Europe. Here in North America we have limited choice of devices or have to wait for something to arrive overseas. My own Ubiquiti system was ordered on Monday and arrived on Wednesday. Along with Ubiquiti Ethernet cables, cheaper than Amazon no-name. With the new 3:1...

    Malware damaging ASUS routers?

Do you have any recommendations about protection steps to take for routers with no firmware update available? The most affected model RT-AX86U/S still doesn't have Asus released patch and there was a report of exactly the same symptoms on RT-AC86U - and EoL model now. Thank you!
