Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

What software are you running on the VPN server on linux? maybe you missed some kind of configuration on the servers end, like redirect all internet traffic via the server. I don't think your problem is with your client as much as your server. All you need to do is load the servers opvn file on...

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

All the fields are the same in my guide as you posted. If you are with Pia you have way to many things on your custom configuration panel. As far as I am concerned I didn't update to the latest firmware because I am not sure where it was going. But from what I saw there where no new fields just...

VPN to VM to avoid no-vpn, location restricted websites?

Say it anyway you want, if you use a public DNS and not the one supplied by the VPN provider you are getting no protection at all. You are leaking your DNS and you can be traced. If you use it only for geolocation then its fine, but if you are downloading torrents then you have a problem. VPN...

VPN to VM to avoid no-vpn, location restricted websites?

Not sure how that would help. When you are on a VPN you shouldn't be pointing your DNS to public addresses. what is the purpose of having a private IP address when they can track your Public DNS. Many sites are banning VPN companies and they can't keep up with the bans.

Asus RT-AC88U AsusWrt Merlin 380.64 VPN connection slow

Even if you bridged the fiber router you won't get better speeds from your VPN. The speeds you get are very good and quite normal. I have seen people get way lower figures then that. So don't go getting all worked up. Nothing is wrong with your setup. Don't go opening up a can of worms because...

Asus RT-AC88U AsusWrt Merlin 380.64 VPN connection slow

Yea sure. welcome to the real world of routers with crappy cpu's your speeds are normal and you will never get better than that. Its limitations due to decryption and the router just can't handle more than that. Even though the cpu shows 50% use its false. Maybe one day if routers go the AMD or...

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

FYI there are ways to load scripts and have VPN only on 5ghz but that is way complicated. You can always give that a go, there are scripts on merlin https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/How-to-setup-SSID-for-VPN-and-SSID-for-Regular-ISP-using-OpenVPN. good luck getting that working :) I...

Tutorial How to Setup a VPN client including Policy Rules for PIA and other VPN providers 384.5 07.10.18

Hello, You can sort of do what you want but not exactly. My suggestion is if you want to have 2 different VPN locations to get 2 different VPN service providers. The problem in having 2 connections from one VPN provider is that most of the time if you enable 2 connections there is a great chance...

RT-AC68U requires reboot after stopping OpenVPN Client on Merlin 380.64

Edited Sorry but that is bad advice. I have seen where the VPN server hick-ups and goes down. I really doubt if someone is using a VPN they would not want to be protected if the server drops connection and they would leek their IP to everyone. if this feature block internet traffic if tunnel...

RT-AC68U requires reboot after stopping OpenVPN Client on Merlin 380.64

Remove Persist TUN and Persist-key from the custom configuration that is already setup in the options from Merlin Ok try to understand this because it is very important. "Block routed clients if tunnel goes down" <---------------- IMPORTANT when you have that feature on and you are telling...

RT-AC68U requires reboot after stopping OpenVPN Client on Merlin 380.64

Hi When you use policy rules you need to create rules in which Devices have access to VPN only or VPN and WAN. otherwise when you have the feature if tunnel goes down stop the service. this is why when you close the service there is no internet. This is normal because it's a protection. If the...
