Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

I agree completely that this is not good for inclusion in a basic, universal use list for diversion. I derailed another thread with my personal questions. Since I'm already on a roll with that, @thelonelycoder, as it is now included in my firmware (41E8) I tried out amtm - gotta say that is...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

I like your method. I have added your list to my sources and will try it out. At a glance of what it provided, I didn’t see anything that looks problematic for whitelisting so I expect no issues.

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Interesting list, I saw you mention it before. I ran it through my scripts to see what if anything your list adds to mine, and it's more than I expected (https://pastebin.com/XaH3YmML if you are curious) leading me to ask, where/how did you decide on these hosts, if you don't mind sharing the...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

I think that's a sensible option. I also like and use the MVPS hosts file source, but they do go above and beyond "just ads" per their own "criteria for detection" (available at http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/criteria.htm). I've been using that source for ages, I believe since the beginning of...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Yes, but that is susceptible to being undone if you, for instance, reset your router and forget to reinstate the changes. And then “the internet isn’t working again.” Ask me how I know. Change it on the device and never be scolded (for that at least) again.

That works too. The benefit of manually specifying a dns on the device is that her things will “just work” whether or not your tinkering interferes.

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Just a thought.. one thing you can do for no additional charge is just to change the dns on her device - that is, instead of leaving it on automatic which will go through your router/diversion setup, manually set the dns on her device(s) to google, your isp, etc. No additional router purchase...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

These are valid points of view and I can understand why you might come to that conclusion, especially as it pertains to wives... However, what is and isn’t blocked is solely a function of which lists you’re using. I have long advocated for small, conservative block lists for these reasons.

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

For what it’s worth when the brain trust was at its peak during the development of pixelserv 2.2, it was determined through quite a lot of testing that this was the case. What is changing, more recently, is that more and more apps are moving to that model. One of the big reasons everyone is...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

For you to discredit that this is his work, you have to assume one or more of the following - someone compromised his onedrive account, someone compromised his snb account, or one of the forum moderators here edited his post linking there and is in on the deceit. Otherwise, this is from the...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

At the risk of derailing this thread, is there any place to get a good overview of what all “service” can manipulate and how? I remember wanting to know that and not finding it, long ago.

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

I do that too. I can’t say for sure but it appears to me that rebooting that way doesn’t wait for the disk to unmount cleanly sometimes and every now and again I get file system errors. It’s a decent and fairly new stick, so it’s not that. I’ve never seen it happen when I reboot via GUI but I’m...

Inspecting the certificate. It’s highly unlikely that you’re not using SHA-2 (probably SHA-256) because all methods of certificate generation around these parts use it. SHA-1 has been out of favor for many years due to insecurity.

If your CA is 2048 bit and SHA-2, you’re using pixelserv 2.3 or newer, and have manually trusted the certificate on the iPhone in settings, general, about then the only further idea I have is to purge your generated certificates in /opt/car/cache/pixelserv to ensure they’re generated with the...
