pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

It goes back a long time, probably to the day of the release of the first “anticipated” software. I’m not that old but it’s been around my whole life. Perhaps @thelonelycoder et al. should formally adopt Blizzard Time™...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

What you have is very similar to what diversion does, but with diversion you get push button customized configuration of this type of blocking which is very valuable to the less technically inclined. Diversion offers error checking and a nice, friendly interface to bring something like your...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

At the meeting of the minds on this topic it was decided that the apps carry a certificate payload and when they reach out to their server and it gets routed to pixelserv instead, the certificates don’t match and the handshake fails. There’s no way around that but to change your configuration...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

Your router model makes a good bit of difference as far as tav goes. The AC86 and AX88 perform noticeably better than the older models. As for the slu situation, the biggest factor is what domains you’re blocking and how often you’re hitting them. As a for instance, if you’re blocking...

pixelserv pixelserv - A Better One-pixel Webserver for Adblock

For what it’s worth to anyone reading, no additional software is technically necessary. The macOS native Terminal.app has the capability, though it’s admittedly not as user friendly as a GUI app. sftp user@host So for most, sftp admin@192.168...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

If I’m understanding you right, it doesn’t work that way. It only serves the things it’s coded to serve, you can’t just add things at your own discretion.

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Oh yes I took my turn with that during the iOS 13 beta period. Learned more than I ever thought I could about certificates. Which wasn’t much, all told.

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

I will watch this space to see what everyone decides. I have migrated to a 2048 bit CA, and it seems fine. It would be a prohibitively large nuisance to change it back and re import on all these various devices who have various owners for me to test, so I will leave that to you fine folks. My...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Diversion/pixelserv will remove the banners, yes. Remove the white space, no. All they do is block connections to domains, they don’t modify the html inline. You’ll need a browser extension or similar to do that.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

It depends on how often you saturate your uplink and whether or not you can live with the consequences when it does. I have 200/10 so I'm working with less than you, but 10 Mb up is sufficiently crushed when any of our resident iDevices does a cloud backup. That's not super frequent, but when it...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Checking in to say that switching off mandatory 1.3 for stubby has returned things to normal. A few days and no problems, like it used to be.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I noticed that as well, the DNSSEC thing. I chalked it up to careful wording. It reads, “Your resolver validates DNS responses with DNSSEC.” which is I guess technically correct even if you’re not configured to use it.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I’ve updated the firmware to 40EB and reinstated cloudflare DoT with the tls 1.3 setting stripped from the stubby configuration. Working pretty good so far through about six hours. @cvx01 I also coincidentally tested at the cloudflare site after I was up and running and didn’t have that issue.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I couldn't remotely prove it but that was my thought. I might try toggling that tls 1.2 setting a little later on.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Cloudflare by any chance? I can’t say whether it is cloudflare, 40E9, some combination of both, or none of the above, but I started having a lot of lookup problems with it a few weeks ago. After some troubleshooting, switching off DoT and using typical dns fixed it.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

It’s 5+ years worth of tweaks both large and small, there’s no granular list. In a nutshell, it’s a base feature set of asuswrt Merlin 374.43, with the majority of asuswrt Merlin fixes thereafter (back ported where they were possible). But he also made little changes here and there at the...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

I personally do use SWC myself. I tried the SB list some time ago, but something pulled in from there was breaking various wife apps, and I found I did not have the patience to sort out what. The benefit was not outweighing the cost for me. When considering block sources, there are variables...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

I think mvps.org and pgl.yoyo.org are good for a small list. You could maybe make a case for someone who cares, but I would be more inclined to put that in a medium kind of list. Two that I see pop up commonly, mahakala and Steven Black, both have tons of false positives and require so much...
