    [Dev] Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 development

    I have this and it runs perfectly well. Never hits even 45C, handled my 600/20 cable connection without breaking a sweat. At the time I bought this, it was <USD 100. https://openwrt.org/toh/friendlyarm/nanopi_r4s_v1

    MoCA Setup from Media Panel in Garage

    Try this splitter. I have a smaller version and zero issues with my GoCoax 2.5 MoCA adapters and 600 Comcast service. While you are looking, scroll down to reviews and note the first one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KCY5MBU/?tag=snbforums-20

    Router certificate not working using Chrome on Ubuntu 22.04

    Don't know if it's still valid, but some old notes I have from this situation have this. I'm using a Chromebook right now and the flag is still there. Don't have a way to see if it is still used though. chrome://flags/#allow-insecure-localhost If that isn't valid any longer, you can try this...

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    If I did, it would be to do it. Like you, I'm happy with my Gb network. I don't move large files to/from the NAS. It's more small files. Mainly used as part of my backup plan. We watch TV off a networked cable card tuner. If I get new switches, I'll get something with the ability to do a 10Gb...

    Dont understand subnetting

    So, past the MPLS/ATM/CDMA/HALO/FM/AM/BBC/IPLS, what's the answer to the original question?

    VLAN Suggestions for MOCA Setup

    Go see this thread. Exactly what I was doing, VLANs over MoCA using VLAN compatible switches. Works great. VLAN & MoCA

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    Yeah, I'd happily agree, cable is always better than any transmitted alternative. It's why I have switches to begin with, more wired devices less wireless. After the install, I did do some testing just to see if any packets were being dropped. Ping from the router to a laptop plugged into the...

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    I had an extra pair of goCoax MoCA Adapters WF-803M, which I'm not certain are sold now. I think goCoax have went with the MA2500C/D now. Those have a 2.5 Gbe LAN port vs the Gbe port on the 803s. I'm going to pick up a pair of the 2500C as I have a similar use for them and they worked so well...

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    Thanks again! As you were somewhat concerned of the throughput over MoCA, here are two speed tests. One done from a machine connected to the router switch, one I took a laptop and connected it to the modem switch. Neither are showing any loss and both are close in the measurements. This is a 600...

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    @ColinTaylor @Crimliar You were not far off, just that the PVID needed to be added to untagged ports and I could not get VLAN 1 to pass through the trunk, so I changed the management VLAN. See right above for the final solution.

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    Ha! I did just that before reading. Port 1 is VLAN 1, ports 2-6 are VLAN 20 (LAN), port 7 is tagged VLAN 10 & 20 (Trunk), port 8 is VLAN 10 (WAN) I changed the management VLAN to 20 and have access to both switches from any LAN PC. Port 1 was left alone because I'm kinda gun shy at this point...

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    No problem jumping in. I wonder what the difference is then? I have everything up and running at the new location, and I simply did as I said, port 1 is VLAN 1, ports 2-6 are VLAN 20 (LAN), port 7 is tagged VLAN 10 & 20 (Trunk), port 8 is VLAN 10 (WAN) I changed the management VLAN to 20 and...

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    @drinkingbird It's working. I decided to add a VLAN for LAN tagged it on the trunk. So 10 and 20 are tagged on port 7 each switch. Port 8 is untagged only 10. Ports 2-6 are untagged 20. Then, all comes up and works VLAN 1 will not carry across a trunk on this switch it seems. Or it may, just...

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    @drinkingbird Sorry for the delay. I had an equipment failure and just got a replacement. Ok, I tested with both switches configured one at a time as a single switch, no trunk, no tagging of VLAN 10. Both switches pass the modem to the router and we achieve a connection. Configure both as...

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    I have the GoCoax for the new install. I use them here and get 1Gb connection between them. Very nice, if you have clean coax.

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    I'm assured by GoCoax and users who do so that the MoCA devices will just pass what they receive. For me, it was the inability to get the router and modem to speak.

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    Three cheers and many beers! That was exactly the missing info and config. In the following, modem switch refers to the Netgear managed switch being configured, not a switch on the modem. I wiped the modem switch, set VLAN 10 on ports 1 and 8, set the PVID on ports 1 and 8 to 10. Took a cable...

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    This did work when connected with no VLAN involved. Switch 1 port 1-> cable modem LAN Switch 1 port 8-> router WAN IP pulled from cable modem no problem. Add untagged VLAN 10 remove VLAN 1 from those ports, power cycle the modem, power cycle the router, ISP Failure.

    Solved Cable Modem->VLAN Tagged Switch->MoCA Adapter->MoCA Adapter->VLAN Tagged Switch->AX86U Router

    Thanks for the very well reasoned and complete guide! I reset things to factory, setup only the mentioned VLANs. It fails at this point. I haven't a clue as to why, I'd need to get a way to capture the traffic at the modem port as I bring each device up. I already had removed all equipment save...
