Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.14 is now available for AC models

Updated the AiMesh node (AC68U) to 14_2 - will see if that addresses this node crashing issues that I posted about here - link Will update the main node (AC86U) to 14_2 in a week or two!

VPNMON VPNMON-R3 v1.3.7 -Oct 20, 2024- Monitor WAN/Dual-WAN/OpenVPN Health & Reset Multiple OpenVPN Connections (Now available in AMTM!)

@Viktor Jaep It seems similar keyboard issues could be present in RTRMON - @Martinski here is onto something :)

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.14 is now available for AC models

Have AC86U and AC68U running 386.14 as AiMesh setup. Started to get a bunch of issues with long reconnect times on the AC68U AiMesh node after this type of message: Nov 3 17:16:51 MISC: wifi upstream is connected, and disconnected from CAP. Tried to downgrade AC68U to 386.12 and 386.13. In...

RTRMON RTRMON v2.1.3 -Oct 19, 2024- Monitor your Router's Health (New: AMTM, Network Conn/Bandwidth/Diag + Port Scanner + Speedtest)

Well, would not running rtrmon without Entware be a bit more difficult? So if it runs without Entware on an AiMesh node, it will surely run with Entware as well! So not sure what "What?!? Not even close..." meant ...

RTRMON RTRMON v2.1.3 -Oct 19, 2024- Monitor your Router's Health (New: AMTM, Network Conn/Bandwidth/Diag + Port Scanner + Speedtest)

This is strange ... You complained about me running rtrmon on an AiMesh node, and then did it too! 🤣 If you run rtrmon without Entware, it runs just fine too! You just need that 1 line mod I posted so it disables the existing check. I never said it crashed without Entware - and it does not.

RTRMON RTRMON v2.1.3 -Oct 19, 2024- Monitor your Router's Health (New: AMTM, Network Conn/Bandwidth/Diag + Port Scanner + Speedtest)

OK! This is similar to me disabling Entware check altogether - link The way RTRMON is coded - Entware is more a nice-to-have rather than must-have. This opens up all kinds of possibilities!

RTRMON RTRMON v2.1.3 -Oct 19, 2024- Monitor your Router's Health (New: AMTM, Network Conn/Bandwidth/Diag + Port Scanner + Speedtest)

So did you do the proper Entware? A lot of required Entware utils don't work properly on an AiMesh node anyway, so might as well eliminate the dependency altogether!

RTRMON RTRMON v2.1.3 -Oct 19, 2024- Monitor your Router's Health (New: AMTM, Network Conn/Bandwidth/Diag + Port Scanner + Speedtest)

It's a good proof of concept! Many features do work just fine! It might be that someone is dying out there for such functionality - in that case more work would be warranted. If no interest, can remain a curiosity ...

RTRMON RTRMON v2.1.3 -Oct 19, 2024- Monitor your Router's Health (New: AMTM, Network Conn/Bandwidth/Diag + Port Scanner + Speedtest)

Hmm, never say never :) I grep'ed, and I grep'ed, and so on ... (well, not really !) :) Anyway, 1 line change does it (line 4761 for version 2.1.3), so great software engineering there given how easy it is to tweak it!!! Whoever wrote this - thank you!!! # if [ -f $CFGPATH ] && [ -f...

RTRMON RTRMON v2.1.3 -Oct 19, 2024- Monitor your Router's Health (New: AMTM, Network Conn/Bandwidth/Diag + Port Scanner + Speedtest)

Right - that's what I do on my main node. But i would prefer to keep the AiMesh node light, meaning no extra storage. That'd be the use case for the lite RTRMON version!

RTRMON RTRMON v2.1.3 -Oct 19, 2024- Monitor your Router's Health (New: AMTM, Network Conn/Bandwidth/Diag + Port Scanner + Speedtest)

That just ruins it :) Why burden an AiMesh node with a flash drive? A drive that can fry within a few months? Among many addons this one is actually some of the more useful ones - so ironically it needs a flash drive which makes things more complicated.

RTRMON RTRMON v2.1.3 -Oct 19, 2024- Monitor your Router's Health (New: AMTM, Network Conn/Bandwidth/Diag + Port Scanner + Speedtest)

Copied rtrmon.sh script to my AiMesh node, and tried to run it. It'd configure, but would not run since it's complaining about missing dependencies. What's the simplest way to blank out those dependencies? Are there 1-2 places in the script for easy blanking? Alternatively, I'll dig through...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

One of these days I'll try to run rtrmon on the AiMesh node, and see what's missing. It's actually one of the more interesting addons that an AiMesh node could use!

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

@Viktor Jaep @Martinski Alright, looks like I confused backupmon and rtrmon! backupmon is indeed fine, just needs to be configured correctly. rtrmon does want Entware!

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

So I was playing with an AiMesh node - and a question came up if it's possible to tweak backupmon to run without Entware installed? Are there some unique executables that are needed that Entware provides? Alternatively, one could just send the backup files to some other place with network.

AiMesh nodes - best practices / scripts / etc

That's great! The debate about this can go on forever - don't want to make this the scope of the AiMesh node question specifically.

AiMesh nodes - best practices / scripts / etc

I have a fairly feeble AiMesh setup, AC86u as the main router, and AC68u as an AiMesh node. My main router is rebooted daily, but the node was just sitting there for weeks of uptime. Anyway, it would become somewhat flaky after a while - so then why not just reboot the AiMesh node nightly too...
