AC68u fast blinking power light from time to time (nvram issue)

Interesting thought! I notice sometimes it sort of loses functionality while running, and when I reboot - it starts blinking. The prior reboot was good, and it even worked for a bit. Alright, I think I've exhausted my patience with it - will replace!

AC68u fast blinking power light from time to time (nvram issue)

I thought the option was "format jffs at next boot" - not "format nvram ...". Mine does work for stretches of time - and then it loses it. If it's stable - ROM updates seem to work fine. Overall, I do have client connection issues after a long uptime when my main router needs a reboot. But! A...

AC68u fast blinking power light from time to time (nvram issue)

It's running Merlin 386.12_0 - and that's the same config I saved. I was tired of moving it back and forth to the main router to setup AiMesh, so saved the config via ssh. At least now I don't have to physically move anything! I can restore the AiMesh node from the same physical location, and it...

AC68u fast blinking power light from time to time (nvram issue)

I have this flaky AC68u which from time to time totally forgets its NVRAM. Usually power light is blinking rapidly. I can usually restore the router after multiple attempts of pressing WPS button upon turning on. It'll come back up fully factory reset. But it'll forget again soon. I am using...

386.10 on AC86U losing all 2.4Ghz devices (seemed to be fixed in 386.9.0)

Alright - it makes perfect sense now. It became hot in May 2022, you put a fan on it. Looks like temperatures is a really good parameter to track through time.

386.10 on AC86U losing all 2.4Ghz devices (seemed to be fixed in 386.9.0)

So you have a ~2017 model to get 4 years in early 2022? The pads must have dried up and lost thermal conductance, both on the cpu and radio chips. An easy fix is an external fan, will probably get it to pre-2022 temperatures. I'd hesitate to try to fix it internally by pad replacement - probably...

Seeking Feedback & Contributions: Merlin Auto Update Solutions

Say, it works fine 95% of the time. And then 5% - you do a lot of recovery because something has gone wrong. Is anyone asking for an unexpected time sink? :) I guess before using this script one has to automatically: 1) backup nvram (nvram save current.cfg) 2) backup /jffs fully with tar 3)...

386.10 on AC86U losing all 2.4Ghz devices (seemed to be fixed in 386.9.0)

Yeah, that's what mine is with the fan on 386.12, pretty identical to yours other that my 2.4Ghz radio is cooler. 41.0 52.0 54.7

386.10 on AC86U losing all 2.4Ghz devices (seemed to be fixed in 386.9.0)

Right, but it's still due to the regulator's age. And CPU temp shows the rough working age of the router.

386.10 on AC86U losing all 2.4Ghz devices (seemed to be fixed in 386.9.0)

Right! But in a way, CPU temp at reasonable ambient temperatures is a great indicator of the router "aging" stage, real age and level of usage. I think when cores start to shut down due to overheating with nothing unusual happening around it - the router is pretty much on the death watch. The...

386.10 on AC86U losing all 2.4Ghz devices (seemed to be fixed in 386.9.0)

This is one hot AC86u! What's the ambient temperature like where the router sits? Something is seriously off. Is something hot blowing at it? You may want to re-position it slightly to have cooler air go into the air intake. Things get fried faster 1 degree at a time, it's actually exponential...

KILLMON KILLMON v1.1.2 -Feb 29, 2024- IP4/IP6 VPN Kill Switch Monitor & Configurator (Now available in AMTM!)

Yes, your script helps to make this into the proper "classical" kill-switch or network lock that every VPN client out there has as an option. Thanks for putting this together! For logistical purposes, I wanted to be able to add/remove a device from the VPN/kill-switch path at will using just...

Improving throughput in basement. Replacing R7800 (with Banana Pi R3?)

So I just tested my fast computer via its WiFi, or with 1Gb cable to the AiMesh node (AC68u) which is probably good 40 ft away from the AiMesh router (AC86u). Both tests get my max ISP rate of 360 Mbps. I guess the air channel between the AiMesh routers is fast enough for that. You could grab...

Improving throughput in basement. Replacing R7800 (with Banana Pi R3?)

It sounds like you just need a high performance wireless bridge. So grab the cheapest used 4x4 (or 3x3) AC router, and set it up as a wireless bridge to your main one. Plug in your basement computer into this new router with 1Gb cable. This will be as good as it gets for you without running a...

KILLMON KILLMON v1.1.2 -Feb 29, 2024- IP4/IP6 VPN Kill Switch Monitor & Configurator (Now available in AMTM!)

Tried KILLMON - it seems right after installing it, it does not actually launch itself. I did a bunch of configs, but that did not start it. Copy/pasted line from firewall script to have it going. My use case is a single computer forced through VPN on occasions. So I assigned a static IP to it...

Solved Replacing USB (Contains Entware) - Safest & Most Efficient Way?

Those Windows programs aren't that mainstream, so just getting them to work properly maybe a bit of a challenge. Also, you still need to format to ext4 on router itself given that it's finicky about different ext4 options. It just can take long to debug the Windows option - but if that works...

uiDivStats Lots of disk writes due to fully re-writing file ./entware/share/uiDivStats.d/csv/SQLQueryLog.htm

I was chasing pretty substantial disk writes when using amtm scripts (~2GB per 24 hours), and one of big writers is uiDivStats Basically, the entirety of file ./entware/share/uiDivStats.d/csv/SQLQueryLog.htm get re-written every minute or so. That's good 300kb, plus probably journaling on top...
