VPNMON VPNMON-R3 v1.3.7 -Oct 20, 2024- Monitor WAN/Dual-WAN/OpenVPN Health & Reset Multiple OpenVPN Connections (Now available in AMTM!)

@Viktor Jaep Btw, what do 2 numbers mean in the ping string? See this "[0049.179]" below. I am running 2 connections to the same VPN, and allow the 2nd one to roam between more servers which are potentially slower. That's if connection #1 has issues with its shorter list of faster servers...

VPNMON VPNMON-R3 v1.3.7 -Oct 20, 2024- Monitor WAN/Dual-WAN/OpenVPN Health & Reset Multiple OpenVPN Connections (Now available in AMTM!)

The issue is that Putty was resizing to a smaller size than what I already had - but that Putty option fixed that. I did edit the script manually, to save the log to /opt/var/log. It was easy! I have a flaky VPN (fastestvpn), so it seems to lose connection A LOT. Lots of logging is being...

VPNMON VPNMON-R3 v1.3.7 -Oct 20, 2024- Monitor WAN/Dual-WAN/OpenVPN Health & Reset Multiple OpenVPN Connections (Now available in AMTM!)

@Viktor Jaep Installed R3 1.3.5 today, some feedback/questions. 1) When I reconnect to vpnmon+screen, it keeps resizing my Putty window to 40 columns. I like to keep it a lot wider by default. Experiment, putty window is 141x33. Reopening screen resizes to 80x33. And I cannot see the header...

dnsmasq: failed to create listening socket for 192.168.1.1: Address already in use

While it's a sound advice, there is no guarantee I would not end up in the same place after everything else is configured again ... I am thinking if I'd take br0 interface down before restart, and perhaps dnsmasq, it's possible things would start up in a cleaner state.

dnsmasq: failed to create listening socket for 192.168.1.1: Address already in use

Alright, my router: RT-AC86U. A few addons, rebooted nightly on schedule by cru. 5 4 * * * /sbin/service 'reboot' #ScheduledReboot# Since about version RT-AC86U_386.12_6, give or take, in certain configurations I get this particular error upon auto-reboot once every few days: Sep 25 04:06:56...

    OK, thanks! That fixed it!

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

It seems the same as yours: Please select an option: s checking syslog-ng daemon ... alive. syslog.log default location ... /tmp/syslog.log ... & agrees with config file ... okay! checking system for necessary scribe hooks ... checking S01syslog-ng ... present...

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

I have version 3.2.0 installed. 5 open scribe 3.2.0 After updating to Firmware:386.14 on AC86U in "System log/General log" the scroll bar on the right disappears. This page seems to be managed by Scribe since it has this statement "System Log - enhanced by Scribe"...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.14 is now available for AC models

Interesting. I upgraded to .14 and ran for a few hours, then noticed /var/log/messages quit updating. A few scrolling glitches too. So I was trigger happy and downgraded. It turned out that did not fix messages, so I had to re-install scribe. I will try to upgrade again in a week or two. I...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.14 is now available for AC models

I wonder if there would be a 386.14_2 update at some point to fix these known issues? I tried the 386.14 version, but went back to the previous one - the scrollbar thinggy is quite annoying.

I have an old Brother HL-2300D, and an Asus AX86U. How do I achieve AirPrint?

@staralfur12 I had a USB Tomato router serve as a WiFi bridge to my printer, see these instructions: http://tomatousb.wikidot.com/tut:configure-printer-in-windows Hopefully you can replicate that with whatever setup you have now. P.S. Here is what Asus says about this...

    Happy and sad for RT-AC86U

I got my RT-AC86U doing what I need - so will keep it for as long as the hardware works. It reboots itself each morning via a cron job - it's actually the hardest thing to ensure it comes back after such reboots. In some configurations it'd not boot up properly 1 out of 5-10 times - so I had to...

    Diversion Diversion 5.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, August 11, 2024

@thelonelycoder I was staying on version 5.1.1 - everything was rock solid. Last week did an update to entware packages, and got a hardcore dnsmasq issue a couple of days later. Could not fix it with the power off button. Had to fully unplug, and re-plug. That's the same issue we were chasing a...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

OK, I think there is still residual confusion here. My primary backup is daily, my secondary is monthly. And yet both backups are happening daily. So it does not appear to be using this "monthly" setting for the secondary backup!

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

Well, it did ask about secondary backup frequency in the setup, I guess that's not used? My use case is to keep the larger time gap backups in case some script update messes up my system and I only catch it a while later.

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

@Viktor Jaep I enabled secondary backup monthly thinking it'd save the config once a month - but it seems to also do daily backups, just like the primary backup, just to a different drive. Am I doing something wrong?

    Diversion Diversion 5.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, August 11, 2024

Thanks for checking! There gotta be some unfortunate shift in some memory addresses so things become screwy, but only intermittently! I will keep checking newer Diversion versions from time to time, always ready to roll back to 5.1.1 - in case the issue resolves itself ...

    Diversion Diversion 5.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, August 11, 2024

When you have a less (or least?) busy moment, could you glance briefly at the differences in the supporting libraries between versions 5.1.1 and 5.1.3 ? Something might ring a bell regarding that dnsmasq issue that I was having with the custom DNS instance. No rush, but just out of curiosity...

    Diversion Diversion 5.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, August 11, 2024

@thelonelycoder Which version control are you using for your scripts? Diversion 5.1.1 libraries with 5.1.3 script seemed to have address my dnsmasq issue fully. So I am afraid now to move to any other version ... It seems you've changed a lot of comments in various places between 5.1.1 and...
