Where is the cache of known MAC addresses stored?

Sorry if trivial question - could not find it with a few minutes of search. If I plug in a rare device that was offline for a while, DHCP will still assign the same IP address to it as last time - many reboots ago. It sort of seems this info has to be cached somewhere. Any idea?

    Diversion Diversion 5.1.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, May 09, 2024

Tried to reformat /jffs and restore backup - no improvement. Tried to unroll to 13_0, 12_6, etc - still same issues even though worked before! Changed non-blocking DNS server from 192.168.1.16 to 192.168.1.17 in Diversion - seems like the issues have disappeared. Rebooted a bunch of times -...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

Started having weird issues with dnsmasq upon reboot, and AC86u was spitting out occasional errors like this: Apr 29 06:45:00 kernel: jffs2: notice: (360) check_node_data: wrong data CRC in data node at 0x00b5596c: read 0x90888718, calculated 0x3334fa3. Apr 30 04:05:06 kernel: jffs2: notice...

    Diversion Diversion 5.1.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, May 09, 2024

Yes, nothing out of ordinary. dhcp-range=lan,192.168.1.32,192.168.1.254,255.255.255.0,86400s I guess maybe pixel-serv is running somewhere? I walk to the router, hit the power button, and then it reboots fine. The errors are similar of Diversion 5.1.0 when the dnsmasq got updated to 2.90 with...

    Diversion Diversion 5.1.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, May 09, 2024

I am doing this on 192.168.1.16: https://diversion.ch/diversion/manual/exclude-devices-from-ad-blocking.html I am not sure I intended to run anything else. What else is running there?

    Diversion Diversion 5.1.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, May 09, 2024

It failed today as well. Here is where the error messages start. I am running a custom non-filtering DNS on 192.168.1.16. Diversion Diversion 5.1.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, May 09, 2024

OK, forced update back to 5.1.1 worked - it was stable. Then I updated to 5.1.2 - still stable. Now I just updated to 386.13_2 yesterday, and got the same issue this morning upon auto reboot. Now forced updated 5.1.2 again, will see what happens! Apr 30 04:06:49 RT-AC86U-9988 dnsmasq[4292]...

Current plans regarding separate version branches

Oops, thread closure danger is lurking!!! :) I am now thinking the earliest HND 5.02ax SDK is when things were most similar to HND 5.02, so one would have to go back a good few years. At that point they would have been more in a rush to get HND 5.02ax out the door, so probably diverged the...

Current plans regarding separate version branches

Right. But at some point they were not too dissimilar, no? For example, version 386_7_2 existed both for AX68 & AC86. Was the codebase already so different between them? AX driver was different for sure, plus some AX options which would not matter for AC. I guess if one is able to run...

Current plans regarding separate version branches

It seems that HND 5.02 are sort of very similar hardware wise to some of the new routers such as AX68U. Sadly, "off label" use of 388 firmware for these may burn some goodwill with Asus. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with the hardware, and performance is way better than some of AX models...

Oh - this feature does not exist yet! It's a request. For now if you want a reliable killswitch, you should use the very nice tool KILLMON - link

    Crontab jobs disappeared.

Has been running this for a week now - appears working very nicely. All BACKUPMON jobs now occur as scheduled (@Viktor Jaep). For a while I had the backup job in services-start run only every other time or similar cru a RunBackupMon "46 14 * * * sh /jffs/scripts/backupmon.sh", while the same...

    [ 386.13 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Cough cough - time to pitch in an update to the VPN kill-switch, to be moved to the VPN director tab: Link Key observation: In particular, if I have Redirect Internet traffic through tunnel set to VPN Director, then both DNS Configuration and Killswitch have to move VPN Director level as...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12_6 is now available for AC models

This makes a lot of sense! If @heywire believes that there was a magic past firmware that worked forever, it could be chased down by bi-section. 386.7_2 was a multi-month stretch without updates, so good to try that one first. Router temperatures seem OK, so a temperature related issue is...

    Crontab jobs disappeared.

I ran it from last night till now. Did "grep -a cru messages > cru1.txt". There was an auto-restart at 4:05am today. See the log.

    Crontab jobs disappeared.

It is logging a LOT now and spamming the main log - could it get its own log file in /opt/var/log ?
