Solved Replacing USB (Contains Entware) - Safest & Most Efficient Way?

Here is a slightly different procedure, but gets to the same place fast. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/amtm-ext4-partition-with-journaling-15-gb-size-1150-gb-of-writes-in-20-months.86927/#post-866459

amtm ext4 partition with journaling - 15 GB size, 1150 GB of writes in 20 months

I think I got close enough to the bottom of the issue. Tried a few different commands, some don't work (iotop, fatrace). But some clues are below. admin@RT-AC86U-9988:/tmp/mnt/ac86u# opkg install fatrace ... admin@RT-AC86U-9988:/tmp/mnt/ac86u# fatrace Cannot initialize fanotify: Function not...

amtm ext4 partition with journaling - 15 GB size, 1150 GB of writes in 20 months

I am very aware of this. If you notice, in my original thread I divided the written amount by the full disk size assuming perfect wear leveling. Turned off unbound logging explicitly - same write rate. Will try to chase some more on the week-end.

Can't Add aiMesh Node to RT-AC68P running Merlin 386.7_2

I actually did the same - telling the node to go find an AiMesh router. So it's push-pull process from both sides. Could work if there are problems ...

amtm ext4 partition with journaling - 15 GB size, 1150 GB of writes in 20 months

So you got me thinking about this. I have a cron script that's outputting a few things every 15 min, so I added the print out of the disk writes for the session. a line in /jffs/scripts/post-mount cru a temp "*/15 * * * * /jffs/scripts/temp_check 2>&1 | tr -d '\n' | /usr/bin/logger -t Temp"...

Can't Add aiMesh Node to RT-AC68P running Merlin 386.7_2

I recently paired 386.12 AC68U node to 386.12 AC86U router. Wireless did not work at all, so I wired node's WAN to router's LAN. Added the node via the router interface. I had connection to the node's interface using a computer via its LAN port, and also connection to the router using its main...

    Router temperatures - 2023

Sadly, the prior thread just expired - 6 months inactivity limit ... https://www.snbforums.com/threads/router-temperatures.71123/ This is a great post - even if I am late to the party! I thought at first to stick a copper shim on the cpu in AC86u, but let's face it - it's not the cpu that...

amtm ext4 partition with journaling - 15 GB size, 1150 GB of writes in 20 months

To talk more about flash drives, I once went through my collection to find MLC ones. There was exactly 1 in the sea of TLC! Here is the MLC one, and its later TLC version. Notice how Kingston totally swapped the hardware, but kept a bunch of IDs the same, and of course, the casing remained the...

amtm ext4 partition with journaling - 15 GB size, 1150 GB of writes in 20 months

If you really want to do USB drives - head over to https :// www . usbdev . ru They have a couple of utils, ChipGenius and Flash Drive Information Extractor: https://www.usbdev.ru/articles/detect_controller/ Some antivirals complain, but this site has been around for years. These utils may tell...

Scribe A filter to drop kernel dcd tainted errors :

Excellent suggestions! I am new to this, and did not think efficiency at all. It would still probably be nice to have scribe support an official trash log bucket by default - anything anybody wants to filter out would go there with little effort on the user part (just the filter file).

amtm ext4 partition with journaling - 15 GB size, 1150 GB of writes in 20 months

As I was slightly re-partitioning my external AMTM drive (a very low end dram-less 240GB SSD hanging on a USB2/SATA ~10 inch adapter cable), I noticed something really interesting. In 20 months this partition with Entware and a 2 GB swap file had 1152 GB of disk writes. So this is about 2GB of...

Scribe A filter to drop kernel dcd tainted errors :

My AC86U router produces endless kernel dcd errors due to AiProtection features which pretty much pollute the system log and make it impossible to look at in a fairly efficient manner. See such a dcd error message below - it's huge for each error instance. So I put together a new quick & dirty...
