    DNS over TLS vs VPN

    I am wondering what the experts think here including Merlin if he is kind enough to comment. What is more secure DNS over TLS or a VPN with wireguard. The real question is with my setup do I really need a VPN? I do not have an fancy setup, 6 TV's streaming just about every major service...

    Well I can now report, under the firewall tab, enable IPV4 firewall under basic config was defaulted to OFF. I turned that on and now the log entried stopped. Why is the default setting OFF? I will let it run overnight and see if any logs return. CC

    What is the actual firmware you are running? is it Merlin .386_2? Merlin alpha .388 or latest Asus Stock? CC

    I am assuming you do NOT have QOS running. If you do disable it. I would try this if you have trouble again. unplug router, unplug modem. Wait 2 minutes. Plug in modem. let it fully reboot. Then plug in router. I would then goto the WAN tab and change the DNS server to 1.1.1.1 and...

    Let us know if downgrading fixed the issue. I do not use the traffic analyzer and so far it runs flawlessly. I did load the Merlin Alfa firmware to test it out, that also ran great but the throughput with the new stock firmware was consistently 25-30% faster on the stock firmware vs the Merlin...
