amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

Unrelated to any code changes, I'm pretty sure. But related to the process of updating, maybe. I have had problems with unbound misbehaving after entware updates and through the 388.2 alpha beta cycle of updates. Uninstalling/reinstalling fixes it--I just think unbound is a little tetchy about...

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

I updated amtm, curious to check out the rd function (I use syslog-ng for the same thing). Around that time my DNS lookups went wacky. I uninstalled unbound, which fixed the problem; then reinstalled it and so far so good. I vaguely recall this happening before with an earlier update. No idea...

Looking for a SIM Card-compatible ASUS Router with Asuswrt-Merlin Support

Better, I think, is to repurpose a phone, being mindful that 3G may be phased out where you are. Or a 5G phone. Before you go, test something out with your router. About 3 months ago I went to use an Android phone and I couldn't find that profile anymore with my AC86. Getting prepped for...

Connected peers in wireguard server dosen't show up.......

Yes, I have a wireguard client connected to my AX88 wireguard "server", and it doesn't show up on the status page or the wireguard page.

how to get more than one openvpn connection at a time with certs and user/pass

Client C and Client B can see server A LAN if set to "LAN" or "Both": That gives them a route to the server LAN. Those are the tunnel endpoints on the server. The problem is reaching the LAN subnets on the other side of the tunnel and knowing which tunnel to use for them.

how to get more than one openvpn connection at a time with certs and user/pass

This is, I think, what most people do with Server A router and Client B router and Client C router: 1. Make sure Server A has a public IP. Set client use to "Both" (I haven't tried it with "LAN" or "Internet", so I'm not sure). Generate a Server A configuration: one cert/key pair. The CN for...

how to get more than one openvpn connection at a time with certs and user/pass

That's one way but maybe not the best way. Not much point in generating in multiple certs if they aren't unique, and I'm guessing you are generating certs with the same cn. So you can have more than one connection but no way to differentiate them. If you are managing a bunch of users in a work...

Solved PixelSvr doesn't start and give strage kernek messagge on syslog

    1. I guess I am in the minority. Diversion-standard/pixelserv works fine for my needs, so I'm interested in solving an anomaly when it occurs. 2. The starting messages in your log are different than mine. In particular, I don't have those dnsmasq ranges in my log. Is your local IP network...

Scribe Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

So this was a swap issue, not a syslog-ng or scribe issue.

Scribe Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

Well, this sent me down a rabbit hole. 1. I haven't upgraded the entware package. The 4.x versions are supposed to be backward compatible with the 3.x versions, except for the python options. So this is supposed to be just a warning. 2. The error message is a syslog-ng error message. 3. There...

    Scribe and aimesh node

Yes, the solution in the thread is I think more complicated than necessary, even if you are doing heavy discarding of messages from the node. The main router can handle a lot more than it has to.

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

If you are using uiscribe, each log should be under (I think well under) 1mb. Beyond that it depends a little on how much you want ready at hand, so the question is what minimum and whether you want it daily or not. Set the basic in logrotate.conf, and then set individual overrides in logrotate.d

    Scribe and aimesh node

You don't need entware on a node. ssh into the node, change the nvram variable for the remote logger, commit, and that's it.

    Scribe and aimesh node

It's easier than that. There are several threads here on it. On each, set your main router as a remote server destination. On the main router, create a source (net), include that in the main cycle, and then create a configuration triad to separate by node.

Scribe syslog-ng not starting on boot if IPv6 enabled.

Ah. Good point. Just because someone's been bit by a shark doesn't mean the water's safe for the rest of us. Specifically, the messages that are being logged at the exact moment that this behaviour is manifesting itself. The webcam is recording you making a police report while overwriting the...

Scribe syslog-ng not starting on boot if IPv6 enabled.

Another thing occurs to me. If in this boot cycle something is restarting the daemons, are we sure that thing isn't restarting them later? We might have syslog-ng running, but if syslogd is restarted we have two processes reading from sockets at the same time. I think we need more data from...

Scribe syslog-ng not starting on boot if IPv6 enabled.

I've been with you since before scribe was just a ghost of an idea, and I've admired each step. None of this is a criticism. My point here is that trying to solve this gremlin does too much damage to the solid version in place two weeks ago, and I my suggestion is to revert this looping. If...

Scribe syslog-ng not starting on boot if IPv6 enabled.

Solved in the sense that it is starting for you. But are you capturing the full boot sequence? I'm still concerned this burns down the house.
