    OpenSpeedTest as an Addon

I think you are right, but it is odd that opkg would install an S* script that doesn't conform to the template. So if you run rc.unslung test all the other scripts will trigger usage errors.

    OpenSpeedTest as an Addon

One thing I'm a little curious about. When opkg installs nginx, it adds an S script but it doesn't follow the normal pattern of these scripts. It doesn't call rc.func, for example, and doesn't have "empty" pre and post commands and args. The cases it handles are...

    Scribe Log question

logrotate is doing this. Scribe installs a daily chron job to run it. You can see the default setup in /opt/etc/logrotate.conf, which is set to rotate each log weekly and keep 4 backlogs with the date as a suffix. Scribe installs more specific things in /opt/etc/logrotate.d, starting with...

[ASK] Addons to monitor USB Capacity Over GUI

Maybe an email alert if the disk is 50 or 80% full. I'm at 3% so take your time.:)

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

Sorry to beat on this. I'm not familiar enough with sed and grep to know myself. I see the trailing $ has been added in some of the places in Auto_Startup(). Are the same changes needed in Auto_ServiceEvent(). Also, the same code is in dnvnstat. Are the changes needed there?

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

Does the change in the script (adding the $) apply to Auto_ServiceEvent as well as Auto_Startup? e.g., lines 478, 496 in the 2.5 script?

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

I see it was merged into the master 17 minutes ago. But it looks like most of the changes are already in 2.5, but not all the sed lines.

Two VPN connections from home network at the same time -> problems

I'll be interested in what you find out. Not clear it has anything to do with Merlin, but I know if you make two VPN connections into one of the server instances you can throw the Asus router WAN into an unrecoverable configuration, requiring a factory reset.

I wonder why that doesn't happen with scribe. In fact, the Sxx scripts are all over the place in how/what they do their customizations

    Diversion Diversion 5.1.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, May 09, 2024

This part, I think, relates to deprecating pixelserv in 5.0. Without pixelserv, a link to a blocked ad server returned a timeout and showed like that as a broken link. With pixelserv, the router immediately returned a valid 1 pixel image, which the clever page coders sometimes detected and...

Solved Latest entware update borked up Unbound

I thought if you did this through amtm it stopped the process, updated, and restarted it, which is what @visortgw has laid out. No?

OpenVPN Server set to LAN only allows browsing

LAN only: the server pushes a route to the server's LAN to the client, so the client can reach devices on the LAN. Internet only: the server pushes a new default gateway to the client, so internet traffic goes through the VPN and out the server's default gateway. With no route, the client can't...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

I get it now. I thought I went to sc to enter my settings, and then to ts to check that they work. Maybe there should be a test setting under sc for that purpose?

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

Just playing with this. My backup to a TrueNAS server is at \\\\192.168.50.10\\Backups. Works fine. When I test the connection, it looks to \\\\192.168.50.25\\Backups, and of course fails.

Scribe Scribe nvram log_path - what should it be?

Looking at the original post, you are somewhat messed up if your NVRAM is pointing to /jffs and scribe thinks it is /tmp. Scribe kills syslogd and starts syslog-ng pointed directly at the log sockets; it then copies the log so far into the messages file; then turns the default log locations...

Scribe Scribe nvram log_path - what should it be?

Some routers are /jffs and some are /tmp. Scribe was updated a while ago to suss out when installed where it is on the particular router, and do the links accordingly. But it doesn't do anything with nvram, as far as I know. Leave it.
