    Skynet Skynet errors

Skynet trims the log hourly, deleting all those messages and rolling them up into that line. You need to look at the last hour, or on the gui under firewall|skynet.

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

I'll have a go when it burps again. I count it a success to be again the sole, lonely and unique person with a problem on one router. :) At the moment it is updating and running. But when things are stalled, I can use the UI page to "update stats" and it will run for a minute or so and then...

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

Not saying I have the same problem or a solution, but on my AX88 it still does this (SSD or thumb drive) every couple of days. On my AX86 Pro, no issue for six months or more. I've noted this above and can't figure out what the problem might be. EDIT: I've narrowed this down to vnstatd not...

    OpenSpeedTest as an Addon

This was the step I hadn't figured out. Now it works. Thanks. Specifically, from the Code button, download the zip file. Unzip it and then use winscp to copy the result over to that folder.

VPN Client with Public IP, split tunnel web server over VPN and other traffic not on the VPN

Not exactly sure I understand what your setup is. I'm assuming you have an Asus router with Merlin on it, with an Openvpn client. With it you are trying to reach some other place with an OpenVPN server, and behind it a web server at 192.168.1.5. I don't think you need the iptables rules at...

    OpenSpeedTest as an Addon

I got as far as having nginx up and displaying the github splash page for the app, but nothing more.

    OpenSpeedTest as an Addon

Stupid question: how do I extract the files from github to the router?

    Remote access VPN?

I hope we aren't going to end up with a locked thread. MFA is a huge help over a strong password. I think the issue is that you are dependent on a third party server to which the host computer is always attached; same for some VPN solutions. The OpenVPN route takes that third party out of the...

    Crontab jobs disappeared.

I don't mean to take this off-topic. A00global sets that, but in my experience above 1mb uiScribe will bog down. Going to change my A00global right now.

    Crontab jobs disappeared.

Don't forget to add a logrotate file too. Perhaps daily and minsize 1024.

    Remote access VPN?

Not the right way to do it. Set up an Openvpn user for RDP, connect to the router with it, have the router WOL the machine you will RDP into, and then open the RDP connection. Sleep the machine when you are done.

    Remote access VPN?

Many moons ago I wrote up my notes: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/vpn-instructions-for-a-newbie.59478/post-523302 It's way more complicated than necessary but I look at it from time to time to remind me what various settings do.

    Skynet New Skynet 7.6.3 Release

    Because you have scribe installed.

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

Not me. "Your Friendly Router" is in the original script from 2012 by, naturally, @RMerlin and posted in the wiki. Which reminds me, someone should update that post in the wiki about sending email to add in something about amtm. We've graduated to curl, encrypted passwords and mms content along...

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

We've had that for a decade. Gosh the whole "your friendly router" comes from ages ago.

Low-Power SSD for amtm, Diversion, Entware and Tailscale on the USB 2.0 Port (USB 3.0 configured as USB 2.0)

Just to bring this back to the OP, I did put one of the Patriot Burst SSDs in an Orico enclosure and plugged it in to my 88U. It cycles in and out, mounting and unmounting. I'm guessing this is a power issue? Happens in either port, and not in the USB ports in my PCs. The pair work just fine...

Low-Power SSD for amtm, Diversion, Entware and Tailscale on the USB 2.0 Port (USB 3.0 configured as USB 2.0)

How does the quote go--any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Low-Power SSD for amtm, Diversion, Entware and Tailscale on the USB 2.0 Port (USB 3.0 configured as USB 2.0)

Yes, it does. I noticed it the other day when I had Skynet installed but wouldn't start because it didn't find the USB drive (others did) and eventually timed out. It showed in amtm as installed because the script was in /jffs. I deleted the script from /jffs and then reinstalled from amtm...

Low-Power SSD for amtm, Diversion, Entware and Tailscale on the USB 2.0 Port (USB 3.0 configured as USB 2.0)

Fair point, and I will. To be less subtle about it, Skynet is one of the scripts that doesn't depend on entware, but does require a USB drive for a swap. Any script that requires a USB drive should fail gracefully, as @Adamm just confirmed.
