Asus RT-AX55 (kernel: CSIMON: M2M usr already registered ...)

On my AX86Pro, I get this message every minute or so if USB3 is active; if I switch to USB2 mode, the message goes away; if I switch back the messages start again. I wonder if somehow this is dealing with 2.4ghz interaction.

uiScribe uiScribe - Custom System Log page for "scribed" logs

It's pretty easy--just follow the examples. What scripts are pushing out errors?

Scribe /usr/bin/logger messages don't make it to the log file - intermittent issue

    1. Scribe doesn't do scheduled maintenance. It starts and then gets out of the way until the next rc call. 2. That said, the last update does a lot of work in the beginning to try and kill syslogd and klogd with comments about unknown processes restarting them. So there may be something going...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.5-beta is now available

Dirty upgrade on my AX-86Pro, with my USB drive attached, oops, from .4. Not pretty: the router did not restart after a power cycle. Unplugged the USB, power cycled and the router came up again but no system log. Plugged in the USB, power cycled, and it seems to be up, but my AIMesh node is...

Scribe /usr/bin/logger messages don't make it to the log file - intermittent issue

As the script notes, random routers natively write to /tmp/syslog.log instead of /jffs/syslog.log. Scribe on install figures out which and stores it, so that when it exits and restarts the native logger it restores the location. At least I think thats what I recall from the discussion. And...

Scribe /usr/bin/logger messages don't make it to the log file - intermittent issue

If klogd or syslogd is running, then scribe is dead. Syslog-ng will be trying to poll the sockets at the same time as klogd and syslogd are trying to do the same.

Scribe /usr/bin/logger messages don't make it to the log file - intermittent issue

I thought maybe you were doing something with log.file. NVM

Scribe /usr/bin/logger messages don't make it to the log file - intermittent issue

Maybe because scribe converts the syslog file to a directory?

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

Thanks for the follow up. I've gone the reset route. I wanted to purge some things anyway. EDIT: I've been slowly adding things back, one at a time. I added back vnstat2 on the 17th, and on the 19th it stopped again. Oh well.

Openvpn connected but no wan/lan traffic

I can't read the screenshots, but does your compression setting match on both sides? If your client has compression disabled, you will connect but no traffic will pass. Better to disable compression.

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

This is a very small thing I came across when resetting everything on my AX86Pro and a new SSD. If I use amtm to install Diversion, I get this message: Diversion requires the Entware repository installed. Enter ep to install Entware now. When I enter ep, I get this message:Note if you plan to...

vnStat [Release] vnStat-on-Merlin - UI, CLI and email - data use and data limit monitoring - R1 and R2

I have a small puzzle with vnstat on my ax86 pro. Unpredictably, the statistics stop updating. I'm not seeing any error message in the logs, but the statistics don't update in the cron job, and don't update if the stats are updated from the web page. This is true if I reinstall keeping the...

YazFi Can/Should YazFi be installed on external USB drive?

I don't think anything essential to one's setup should be installed on an external drive.

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

To be honest, I've kind of lost the thread of what you want to accomplish-- "easy extraction" and "scrambled" don't give me a guide. You'll have to attract the interest of the two other folks here who use graylog.

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

Graylog appears to ingest files but not directly: https://go2docs.graylog.org/5-1/getting_in_log_data/ingest_from_files.html?tocpath=Getting%20in%20Logs%7CLog%20Sources%7CAdditional%20Log%20Sources%7C_____6 Scribe sets up syslog-ng to parse messages into log files, but you can manually set up...

Scribe scribe 3.x_y - syslog-ng and logrotate installer

It's in the graylog documentation: https://go2docs.graylog.org/5-1/getting_in_log_data/ingest_syslog.html?Highlight=syslog-ng Also, if you search here back a few years, you will see folks building a destination for loggly.

Scribe A filter to drop kernel dcd tainted errors :

@cmkelley has provided a number of samples but I don't see an easy way to have a trash log bucket. Syslog-ng isn't set up like that. But it isn't hard to do that. Define a file destination as "trash.log". Then, in each logging statement where you are trashing messages that meet a filter, add...

Scribe A filter to drop kernel dcd tainted errors :

If you want to save these messages in a bucket, why not define a new file destination and send them there? Once you see if you are capturing what you meant to, you can comment the destination out to just trash them. If there really are a lot make sure you also have a log-rotate definition...
