Setting up 2 mac addresses to same IP in dnsmasq.conf.add

+1 on this point. Just for info, I had an old laptop that did have separate MAC address for the 2.4 and 5.0 radios. It was a weird laptop from day one..........

    IPtable entries not saving?

Bit -I is for insert..... places the rule at the top of the chain. Where as -A appends the ruled to the end of the chain. Re iptables -I INPUT -s 192.168.0.0/24 -j DROP

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

I knew I read it somewhere in the thread..... I'm not going crazy!! Now, I just need to convince my wife of that!!

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

It is the downside of applying automation to a task. You can never cover 100% of the cases/configurations out in the wild.

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

Sorry, my bad here. I thought I had read somewhere that BACKUPMON now had the option of specifying a required mount point (requiring an smb call) or just specifying a directory to where the backup is to go (i.e. assume the backup destination already exists). If that is not the case, then yep...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

I would create a new script (wrapper) with something like.... #!/bin/sh <Code to mount the NFS Share> <Code to call BACKUPMON as a one-time call to back up the Router> <Code to unmount the share (unless it is a permanently mounted point)> Then call the wrapper script via a cron job. I'll be...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

Mountd is just the daemod that handles NFS shares. If you turn on NFS from the server centre, the deamon gets started for you. Otherwise you have to start it. You still have to mount the actual share.

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.8.20 -Oct 12, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! CIFS/SMB/NFS! (Now available in AMTM!)

Interesting, I found that you did not have to call mountd if you had NFS turned on under the GUI. Otherwise, the call to mountd is required. I will have to check my notes, but I think you need to call mountd as mountd -N 2 &

I believe BACKUPMON can work now without having to call a mount to an SMB share within the script. If so, mount your NFS share prior to calling BACKUPMON and unmount afterwards.

    Crontab jobs disappeared.

I am leaning toward a concurrency problem (agreeing with @dave14305). I see me implementing @SomeWhereOverTheRainBow solution in the near future. I have not had an issue yet, but why wait.

RT-AX58U sudden DNS problem - URGENT

Dito on what @ColinTaylor said about turning your fire wall off. The last thing you want is to be left exposed to the greater web. Look through your syslog carefully for any issues that dnsmasq is reporting prior to it restarting for clues as to what is going on.

RT-AX58U sudden DNS problem - URGENT

PS, I would suspect a corrupted or malformed MAC address in YazDHCP script. I know dnsmasq will fail to start if there is a bad config file or a config file with errors in it. Have had to deal with that myself a time or two.

RT-AX58U sudden DNS problem - URGENT

From your description, dnsmasq is crashing. Is there anything in the logs dnsmasq specific indicating an error? Disable user scripts and see if the router returns to normal operations. Also if the family needs the internet for work or school, it will get you by until you can troubleshoot.

    Tailscale on Asus RT-AX86U router

Looking at the script that parses the init.d directory, any file that does not have the execute attribute set is skipped. Personally, I don't keep backup files in the same directory to avoid confusion, but as long as the backup file is not executable,it should be ignored.

    Tailscale on Asus RT-AX86U router

If you are looking at preventing an init.d file from being overwritten, just remove the write permission attribute from the file. chmod -w filename
