WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

Not gonna lie. I still don't understand the point of cold standby. It takes so much longer for Asus to do a failover when it's on cold standby.

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

I haven't used this script fully yet since I'm still waiting for my SIM card to come in the mail. But, shouldn't the script force the second WAN to always be active (hot standby)? Since it automatically does the ping periodically for both WAN interfaces?

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

I'll be here. I don't have notifications but I'll regularly refresh. Also I'm still waiting for another SIM, so the modem is not currently plugged in. But the dual WAN feature is still on. Does it still install the script just fine? . Worst case I can plug it in and set the ping to my modem...

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

I just looked at the code. And yeah it might be that mine is stuck there too. When it's stuck. Does CTRL+C work?

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

And again, CTRL+C doesn't work on the active window. Let me know if you need anything !!

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

@Ranger802004 I tried installing the script. but it got stuck at : Getting System Settings... . Tried rebooting etc same thing. I'm on AC86U with 386.9. The first time it does the getting system settings i can see a init process hogging the cpu for awhile. then after a few sec it just stopped...

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

Thanks for the info. Also I'm just wondering in case you know. Does spdmerlin, connmon and vnstat all use the dual WAN or does it not? I do remember that spdmerlin has WAN selection to Speedtest and vnstat uses say eth0 by default. Does those change or will they just stop working until it goes...

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

Thank you for the fast reply!! For the first question. That's not what I meant. I mean sometimes the target address is down. Like down down. Sometimes it's either the target itself or just the ISP link to that target. Doesn't that mean it'll trigger a fake internet down situation? My suggestion...

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

Hey. Another question. Is it fine to just ping 1 address to decide whether WAN0 or 1 is up or down? Since sometimes Google or even cloudflare IP can go down. Or sometimes the ISPs link to those certain servers can go down. Isn't it better to have each wan ping 2 addresses? And if both times...

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

I see. I'll see if I can find my modem then. Also is the script's thread always changing? Since I found many threads with different versions. Thanks!

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

I see. Does it work with flexqos or will it conflict with it? I have an old cat 4 mifi which should work with USB. I'm trying to use it as a failover just in case my main line goes down. At least we'll have internet. Also I think being able to run a script to send a message letting us know if...

WANFailover Dual WAN Failover ***v2 Release***

Does this allow me to have different QoS settings then for my original WAN and the secondary line? Since my secondary line will be an LTE modem and I prefer not having QoS or having the bw limiter be auto instead of capped like my main line. If it does work, will the QoS different configurations...

How long will 802.11n be supported by router makers?

If you disable b support on 2.4ghz (it is an option on Asus routers AFAIK) does it automatically improve performance? Even though there aren't any B clients that has ever connected? Is the difference big enough that it's worth disabling B completely instead of having it for possible old clients?

    Internet status texting

I don't know if you're using stock Asus firmware or Merlin firmware. But I'm using Merlin so I can use ssh etc, for me I just use healthchecks.io . It uses cron on my router to report to that server and I can get a notification if the internet is down or up using telegram. It supports email...

Is there an app that can notify you if the Wi-Fi channel changes?

As I said before. If you're on Merlin you can make it run a script every few minutes to check the current channel using nvram command. Then you should be able to use if else then notify you via telegram.

Is there an app that can notify you if the Wi-Fi channel changes?

It might be possible with cronjob right? Cron will run a script which will check the current channel which is stored in nvram I think. Then send a telegram message if it matches what you want. But I think you need Merlin firmware for that Edit : Yes it is stored in the nvram

spdMerlin spdMerlin - v4.x - speedtest and bandwidth monitoring

I meant that since a few months ago. Speedtest.net now checks bufferbloat as in the ping times when saturating download and upload. It used to only check the ping on idle. Which doesn't help in determining bufferbloat under load.. the new site and mobile apps now checks the ping times on idle...

spdMerlin spdMerlin - v4.x - speedtest and bandwidth monitoring

I just noticed that speedtest now tests bufferbloat on download and upload tests. Is it possible for spdmerlin to put that into the tables? I have tried downloading and running the prebuilt Speedtest binary for aarch64/arm64 and it does work. Is it something that's gonna be implemented later on...

Asus AiMesh technology 802.11kv detected but no 802.11r

I'm using a MacBook and i have a different software that can see those things. I haven't found an app that shows those info on Android though.. Here's what my AC86U with Smart Connect Band Steering shows on my MacBook
