Breaking Dad's Big Bad Gaming Discussion - For all things to do with PC Gaming !

I actually have the premium version of the game pre-ordered and also received a free copy of that same version with my new X3D CPU purchase. I am very stoked for this game.

Custom Router Box hardware freeze issue

I am not using Windows on this board. It was purchased as an openbox at a low price and I placed an Ryzen 1700 CPU in it. OpnSense is the OS installed as it is my Firewall router.

Custom Router Box hardware freeze issue

Since this is not purpose built for gaming, the memory is downclocked. Also can confirm definitely not OS misconfig as I ruled that out early. The Firewall not only has an I350-T4 Quad 1Gb NIC and X540-T2 Dual 10G card. The sole 2.5G Realtek onboard NIC is not being used. Since adding the...

Custom Router Box hardware freeze issue

As good as that may sound, Ubuntu can be flexible, but also have its own issues and slightly more complications due to not being a router/firewall specific built OS.

Custom Router Box hardware freeze issue

I may need to check that. It was probably the one setting I did not think to check. Right now the Firewall server is still up after adding the X540-T2 card and removing the realtek card so it may of been a faulty card too as no crash yet. I am seeing a few in errors on the WAN so I will...

Custom Router Box hardware freeze issue

I was not sure what name to give the headline. I am currently running into an issue with my network. I built and upgraded my hardware (from one consumer platform to another) to an Asus B550M Tuf WiFi Plus motherboard, Ryzen 1700 8C/16T CPU, and 16GB DDR4-3200Mhz memory downclocked currently to...

Very aware of that. Asus just was the best overall for performance and features but firmware was the first thing I grabbed and double checked last night as a newer one came out to my surprise but glad they are working to fix all corks while adding further support to the board so quickly at the...

Breaking Dad's Big Bad Gaming Discussion - For all things to do with PC Gaming !

Working on a few home projects, but to keep with the gaming theme somewhat, My main PC is about to get a nice upgrade. Just purchased an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 16C/32T Gaming CPU along with 64GB of G.Skill Trident Neo DDR5-6000Mhz dual-channel memory, a 2TB WD Black SN850X NVMe M.2 Gen4 SSD and...

Not just idle but also on higher power draw due to optimizations especially with multi monitor and 1440p setups. This will put it much closer to the power draw specs that they initially claimed as this was one of many launch bugs now being fixed.

My 7900 XTX was not that bad at idle, but still had more power draw, but AMD just released the 23.7.1 WHQL drivers and the big bug fix was the high power draw for the 7900 series cards that has plagued them since launch. I have not personally checked but that may finally put them where they...

Breaking Dad's Big Bad Gaming Discussion - For all things to do with PC Gaming !

When I was using my 1080 Ti with 11GB I noticed a few games that were out even during the middle to end of the pascal generation of cards that struggled at 1080P let alone 1440P depending on how graphically rich in features it was. The RX 7900 XT is a good card especially now in pricing and...

Breaking Dad's Big Bad Gaming Discussion - For all things to do with PC Gaming !

My Son has a 3070 EVGA card in his still was a big leap, but my 7900 XTX Red Devil OC beats that card too nicely. I am not discrediting the Nvidia cards either as I still use them and even moved my 1080 Ti to my Unraid multimedia gaming NAS server. I just think this time Nvidia made a money...

Breaking Dad's Big Bad Gaming Discussion - For all things to do with PC Gaming !

As has been mentioned rasterization is on par or better than the Nvidia equivalent. Ray-Tracing is the only thing lacking but again it is 2nd Gen compared to 3rd/4th Gen tech. I personally upgraded from an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB card to the Radeon 7900 XTX Red Devil OC 24GB card as it...

I might of if it came to Steam through the normal update when launching the app, but for my go to launcher, I am using Launch Box as it connects all my game apps and emulators together in one easy to go to app launcher.

I might but haven't looked. I use Lunchbox as my frontend, for all my games and emulators, as it provides a one stop shop.

For One system I am running a gaming setup, but it also does Video and photo editing and a few other things. Just because the parts are gaming oriented doesn't mean, that is it's sole purpose. However if I go to the other end of the corner, my Firewall Router currently running PfSense, is...

Breaking Dad's Big Bad Gaming Discussion - For all things to do with PC Gaming !

I replied to another person in this post, but yeah the software on the Ally is the only hold back. It was said to be better at launch, but the real sauce may be in the rumor that Microsoft is building a handheld game mode for Windows 11 that may be the real key to gaming on those handhelds...

Breaking Dad's Big Bad Gaming Discussion - For all things to do with PC Gaming !

Try a wireless keyboard from Logitech using Lightspeed or Corsair using Slipstream. They are by far the best and practically eliminate any lag. I believe Logitech's Lightspeed combined with mechanical keyboard has done just that as I am using the G915 Clicky and there is no lag. Their G502 X...

I eventually want a VR headset, but have been reserved on them. Any suggestions of a good one that is feature rich with great specs, but will not break the bank? I also want it to work with a PC.

I have to disagree with that. I do not go just on reviews, but own experience and the platform upgradability path and AMD wins there. Overall performance and life of the platform AMD owns there as well with the launch of the X3D parts. Drivers have been getting significantly better especially as...
