AX11000 2.5 wan port speed issue

I have the AX11000 Router. It works perfectly find and able to saturate the 2.5G Download and upload speeds if pushed. The problem is there is only 1 2.5G port as has been mentioned by @andy_3_913 that can be used for either LAN or WAN, meaning if you plug the modem into that port, it will be...

how to -Ethernet- Mac address whitelist asus built in firmware

No SFF in all cases. In this case these were rack mount form factor. I will agree power consumption can be a hit or miss depending on setup but you also have more capabilities including even NAS hybrid options. Also if you tweak and setup for ECO or power saving features that power gap is not as...

how to -Ethernet- Mac address whitelist asus built in firmware

Not exactly true. A couple ways to control cost. Install Pfsense or Opnsense in a virtual machine to test and learn to start or you can buy some fairly decent hardware for cheap around $120-150 on eBay for instance that gives various hardware such as one that included dual 6C/12T Opterons or for...

how to -Ethernet- Mac address whitelist asus built in firmware

For the very basics, limited networking knowledge is needed. I agree though for more sophisticated settings, average to above average knowledge is required, but on that note there is a lot of forums and other support widely enough available for Pfsense and Opnsense. It just also takes the time...

how to -Ethernet- Mac address whitelist asus built in firmware

I would whole heartedly agree with this. A sense of updated router hardware using either Pfsense or Opnsense combined with fine control and common sense may be the only way. If your kid defeats this, than the blame goes on the administrator of the network. One more thing I can add, is they can...

how to -Ethernet- Mac address whitelist asus built in firmware

I never said somethings may need to be manually done, but really even in router firmware both standard and custom, there is some automation, but what they are looking at, is not clear as day, and may require something with more fine control. Pfsense and Opnsense give that control, but yes some...

how to -Ethernet- Mac address whitelist asus built in firmware

For something at the ethernet level, you may be better off building or purchasing a device and use Pfsense or Opnsense as they can do per device authorization and specific firewall rules can be setup. Most routers, do not really have that kind of functionality in the ethernet portion for consumers.

    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

I did not need to ssh. You need to make sure the computer has a static IP address that matches the router, so when using recovery mode, you can begin the process immediately. If not done correctly, the router will go back into a normal attempt to boot up. It does work though as I have used...

    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

If we are talking about Asus recovery mode, there is still a recovery mode on even new gen Asus Routers. I have used the recovery mode on the GT-AX11000 quite a few times when playing with firmware updates that may of gone crazy, and not right. Also we need to take in 2 facts. One is the router...

Set up New ROG AX6000 (w/ RMerlin) but Not Getting Fast Wi-Fi Speeds. (Please Help)

$200 for the access point would still leave you with a weaker access point/features. That is part of what you pay for in these routers. As far as possibly more powerful hardware to start, you may be able to get within that realm. Honestly though you truly would be looking at around $800-1000.00...

Set up New ROG AX6000 (w/ RMerlin) but Not Getting Fast Wi-Fi Speeds. (Please Help)

The ASUS routers are quite superb routers with an expansive feature set. The Mesh AI is just one big advantage just in default firmware. Merlin firmware can usually move faster to add some advantages and bug fixes that eventually find it in the ASUS firmware and every once in a while there is...

    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

Actually Linksys was one of the best brands around in the early days. That is where a lot of firmware customization started with in the consumer space such as DD-WRT, Tomato (which was forked and now ASUS runs a variant), and OpenWRT. If it wasn't for Linksys opening their platform, some of what...

    ASUS failed; [update - replaced]

I have had a few Asus wireless routers for some time now and they do the job and have outlasted some of the other brands I have had. Infact have two of them now running on Merlin WRT as Access Points within my home network and they are between about 20 months and maybe 5yrs old with my...

    CAT7 tops at 100Mbps

I would check to make sure all drivers are up to date, as it may be a driver issue (very rare, but it has happened). As for the cable, it could be pins incorrect, damaged or bad cable, and sometimes depending who you buy through for price, could be that the cable was not true Cat7 cable as...

Looking for feedback from anyone that has gone from Merlin + Scripts to pfSense

You still can use your merlin ASUS router (assuming it is of the wireless variety) as an Access Point to feed your wireless devices. That is how I have 2 of mine. I have one Asus GT-AX11000 plugged in to my firewall router (currently running Pfsense 2.6) on one subnet via a 2.5G connection to...

We are soon to get faster than 1 gig internet

I didn't say they weren't. Them along with Comcast have a Docsis 4 contract with Broadcom who is so far known to be supplying the chips for the hardware. I know Comcast, the largest Tier 1 operator, is moving to advance testing stages and mass launch preparation stages. Then again, Comcast is...

We are soon to get faster than 1 gig internet

I do agree on how well an ISP is run, and that also can go with how small or large they are too. This year may be interesting, but if anything takes place, I am thinking late mid year or more realistically end of year for any new speed launch. Mid year, may see at least current gen speeds shift...

We are soon to get faster than 1 gig internet

Not too optimistic, but I should of said Tier 1 cable operators as the emphasis. Comcast has been testing all last year with test ranging from 4Gbps to 10Gbps symmetrical downloads/uploads and plan on launching with a 10G capable cable modem. It may not hit everyone right away but I can see them...

    The GT-AXE11000 and Windows 11Pro

I would keep the network profile public as Microsoft now recommends that for a little additional security even on your home network. Only switch to private if looking to share files or printers from that device or make the PC discoverable to the network. I would say private is best if you have a...
