    Diversion Diversion 5.1.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, May 09, 2024

I was close to replying in similar manner, as that was both my understanding as well as my own experience with the large version of the oisd list: no false positives here (in the admittedly small sample size test of just my own household). Glad to hear that perhaps other factors may have...

OpenVPN configuration not compatible with OpenVPN Connect 3.4.0

It sounds like you need to completely reset the OpenVPN connection and generate new certificates: use the "reset to default" button. Then reconfigure from scratch, with new 2048 bit certificate, and ultimately re-export your config file to your devices. A hassle, but probably the only way to...

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

Yeah, I did see the option to re-use the previous Entware installation, but was REALLY trying to do what I could at that point to avoid any router reboots (the whole family was back and reliant on the network by that time, including various IPTV streams running, etc...).

amtm amtm 4.9 - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu, June 30, 2024 (locked thread)

Ugh, I got bitten by this bug (all Entware wiped out/non-functional and various scripts needed repair/re-install) when upgrading amtm yesterday, but I had chalked it up to just bad luck. I had also quickly followed it up with a firmware update to 388.6 Beta1, so I wasn't sure which one caused...

Why do I need a Let's Encrypt certificate?

Yes, sorry I worded that phrase poorly, I understand that it also is needed for https access to the router configuration pages. That still seems to me to be overkill, as it really should only be accessible from inside my own lan, where if I need to be that concerned about http: vs. https...

Why do I need a Let's Encrypt certificate?

Thanks, I guess in my case I have never really needed either one. My DDNS seems to update just fine (OpenDNS) without needing a certificate, so is this only for the Asus DDNS service?

Why do I need a Let's Encrypt certificate?

Can someone refresh my memory on why we need the whole Let's Encrypt certificate in the first place? Presumably we only care about this if we insist on enabling https: access to the router and are shutting off simple http: access, right?

    Diversion Diversion 4.3.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, released April 02 2023

Looking forward to it. A shiny new Diversion to play with will be my most anticipated present of the season. 🥳🎅

    AdGuardHome Asuswrt-Merlin-AdGuardHome-Installer (AMAGHI) cont.

Ok, thanks for what seemed like a snarky reply, that wasn't really what I was looking for. I know option 1 should do the update, but there seemed to be a few posts roughly a week ago (around Friday, Dec 8th) that indicated they had issues as well with the update, and they implied that they had...

    AdGuardHome Asuswrt-Merlin-AdGuardHome-Installer (AMAGHI) cont.

Can someone explain the "right" way to do an upgrade/update (if that has been solved with any workarounds), given the issues with many reports of broken installations (.yaml issues, etc)? I tried to do the update on mine today, and even though it didn't seem to have any visible errors, and...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

Ok, this is resolved now. All of your suggestions were close to the right answer, but not exactly....lets just say that they led me to investigate further. The Windows user (that I specifically created a local user account for this share/backup folder) was working fine for a month or so, but...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

Thanks, I'm not home right now to test, but I will be looking into those suggestions tonight. I agree now that it is an access problem with logging onto that shared folder, but don't see why just yet.

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

Thanks, but I don't see it as being any of those cases (no @ sign in password, and the network location share is a Windows 10 folder share that was working fine before this week, no password expiration date has been set). After a full power cycle of the router, the message changed slightly...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

This utility has been working well until this week when I upgraded my GT-AX6000 to 388.5 Final: now I get this error when running a manual backup- mount: mounting \\192.168.27.20\RouterBackups on /tmp/mnt/backups failed: Key has expired Any suggestions to resolve this "Key has expired"...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 is now available for AC models

Perhaps it seemed different in the past, as from my recollection the issues and subsequent minor releases usually occurred within the first 4-6 weeks after a major release, whereas in this case it has been a full 3 months since the initial major release. Not a complaint, just an observation...

BACKUPMON BACKUPMON v1.5.10 -Mar 1, 2024- Backup/Restore your Router: JFFS + NVRAM + External USB Drive! (**Thread closed due to age**)

Hmm...which of the CIFS/SMB Versions is the "true" default? The upper block of text would indicate that the default is Version 2.1, but the screenshot text (when choosing option #9) seems to indicate that "By default, BACKUPMON supports the latest version available (v3.02), ....", so which one...

    Daylight Savings Time Setting

I look forward to testing this out later: if this is the case, it is welcome news, as I have never seen any past evidence of corrections being applied accurately.

    Daylight Savings Time Setting

My point was that it is easy to fix through the GUI, but it is up to every user to do so (manually, it won't happen automatically by setting a time zone).
  19. J

    Daylight Savings Time Setting

This is nothing new: the exact settings for when DST starts/ends have always been set to a very "generic" example in the router firmware, as those dates vary a great deal around the world (if they even use DST at all), so Asus has not even attempted to keep up with this and program it to match...

OpenVPN configuration not compatible with OpenVPN Connect 3.4.0

If going to the trouble of regenerating certificates, it will also be smart to make sure to use 2048 bit RSA encryption, as 1024 bit is now deprecated and some modern OpenVPN clients will complain (force you to use "insecure/legacy" connection settings).
