Device all of a sudden is assigning itself a 169.254 IP address when coming out of standby

What is not changing your problem? With no additional switches involved, there is no reason to have spanning tree enabled. Turn it off if it is on and see if that helps.

Device all of a sudden is assigning itself a 169.254 IP address when coming out of standby

Try unplugging and replunging the port. Is there a switch between the host and the router? If you have spanning tree enabled, try keeping it disabled. If Asus dose not implement port fast then traffic will be blocked for 30 seconds when a port comes up and this can cause DHCP issues of the...

ZenWifi XT8 w/ Gnuton, weird Wifi Issues

I've stayed in inquiry as my experience is in college campus WiFi. 2.4 GHz is just a mess yet it's the only way to get reach into obscure locations and yes many AP's hear each other. Those that don't are where it is harder as now client collision detect and AP collision detection come into...

ZenWifi XT8 w/ Gnuton, weird Wifi Issues

Thank you, Your answer confirms my expectations. Running mesh, we get convenience; guest SSIDs on the nodes and leave some performance on the table. I have not seen anyone demonstrate how much performance we are lousing to cross channel interference. My guess is it's not significant except...

ZenWifi XT8 w/ Gnuton, weird Wifi Issues

I'm curious what improvements you see using AP mode for the nodes rather than AI Mesh. I'd guess not having co channel interference is helping throughput and if this is the case, how much?

What are your issues? Nobody can help you as we don't know what your problem(s) are.

ZenWifi XT8 w/ Gnuton, weird Wifi Issues

What do you mean by random lagginess? Do you have a router that does not have issues?

Thank you Merlin and all of you that test his code. A nice clean upgrade and perfect operation for over two days.

    seeking help with bridge mode

This if for his router to avoid cross channel interference. The bridge is clearly a client of the building's network.

    CakeQOS CakeQoS-Merlin v2.1.1

I'm running latest stable. My son works from home so I have to provide a stable environment. I think that when you make a change it resets appropriate things. Check your log. Using besteffort in both directions should be the default as it's the theme of CAKE and works great. Good luck...

    CakeQOS CakeQoS-Merlin v2.1.1

Try enabling the script again. The code is built in to the router. I don't have this issue. I also recommend leaving ACK filtering off as it's not going to do anything for you except on a super slow link.

    seeking help with bridge mode

You should also select channels for your WiFi that are not in use by the building WiFi. If they use all channels, then choose one with the weakest signal.

Device all of a sudden is assigning itself a 169.254 IP address when coming out of standby

To prove your theory that it's code, go back to a known working version. If that fixes it for at least 3 times as long as it takes for the problem, then go forward again and see if the problem comes back with the same frequency. Good luck

    CakeQOS CakeQoS-Merlin v2.1.1

Why do you need to improve bufferbloat? What is not working? Your tiny upstream limit will have to be made smaller to do what you want in CAKE. Having a 5g cell link will mean all speeds vary depending on the cell load. This is not a good situation for CAKE as you will need to configure for...

Device all of a sudden is assigning itself a 169.254 IP address when coming out of standby

No. They each need there own IP, a DNS assignment and the default gateway. You need to do a bunch of reading as you don't understand this basic information. While what I'm suggesting will fix your symptoms, it is a bandaid and not addressing the packet loss on your network.

What is on your network and what are you trying to improve?

Try configuring the IP for both the NAS and PI on those hosts.

Device all of a sudden is assigning itself a 169.254 IP address when coming out of standby

No, first DHCP renewal is at 60 percent of lease time to prevent problems like you are expecting. Read the RFC as there is more to it than I care to quote.

Device all of a sudden is assigning itself a 169.254 IP address when coming out of standby

This type of issue is usually a network issue resulting from lost packets. This results in the DHCP server not hearing renewal requests and/or the client not hearing the response. Take a look at your DHCP list, renewals should happen at 50% to 60% of the lease time. If you see leases longer...

    CakeQOS CakeQoS-Merlin v2.1.1

That's a different script. I still feel it's worth investigating.
