Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

Yeah, probably something on my side that's either augmenting the issue or creating the scenario. I'm in no mood to do a full reset and manual config at this point... Holding steady at 50% so far since "the killing" heh heh.

None of those are turned on, nor do I use AiProtection or App Analysis. Will see if this stays steady.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

LOL! Meh. I wouldn't call it an "issue" more of an observation. Even at the high memory usage, router is fine. Linux being Linux but it is a different behaviour than previous builds on this router. EDIT: I was just goofing around on the router earlier today and decided to kill all the "nt_*"...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

Yeah, mine has "peaked" at 97% as well. If I do something intense on the router, it will free up some to run the activity and then I see a small drop as expected when the activity is done. But it will creep back up to 97. Everything's fine overall as well. UI etc.. accessible and all devices on...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

Yeah, I have a feeling a full reset and manual setup is in my near future... something is off with my GT-AX6000, which is strange as it's not that old, has not been through too many "dirty" updates, has a simple setup.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

Well, update on the memory creep up... since the reboot, been a steady 2% increase every day. Now at 96%. The only item that's been taking on the memory is "nt_center". I've been checking top every so often to see what's bene using the memory, that's the only item that's changing with the...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

I have not seen either of those. Just the memory creep up, which looks to be a known issue that was fixed by Asus in a later build. So that will eventually make it's way to the Merlin builds.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

Yep, and the 388.2 Merlin FW was based on GPL 22525 which pre-dates even that fix. Will likely need to wait until the next GPL merge. Luckily there's no serious impact outside of a slow creep up of memory usage which is easily resolved with a router reboot. The only hit is to my uptime. ;)

I don't see anything in there about memory... https://rog.asus.com/networking/rog-rapture-gt-ax6000-model/helpdesk_bios/

Is it a good idea to keep up with Firmware updates?

Is it a good idea? Absolutely. Firmware updates will bring features as well as important security fixes. As noted by @andyross - you can always wait a bit after the release for the early adopters to give it a spin and report any significant issues...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

I have a similar setup on the router - no AiMesh or scripts or add-ons at the Router but do enable DNS Director and VPN Director, got three APs connected via hard wire, DNS is pushed to my Pi-holes running on discrete RPi's. 100+ clients and pushing 3TB of data/month... which was all present...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

Yeah, my old RT-AX86U when it was my router was like that. I have a feeling this is a GT-AX6000 thing... it will end up back at 98% for sure in time. I have not seen it tip over.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

So, since the reboot I've seen a steady 2% increase each day in memory usage on my router. Was 48% on May 7th following the reboot and is 73% today. Anyone else noticing that trend with their GT-AX6000? Saw this on 382.2 as well.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

I'm not sure where you saw the statement "all routers" as Eric has always kept a list of supported devices so that eveyrone knows which version is supported on which platform.

I don't see that one on the supported list for Merlin FW. See here: https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/about

Keep it clean and simple. Let the router just be a router.
