FlexQoS FlexQoS 1.2.5 - Flexible QoS Enhancement Script for Adaptive QoS

Just wondering @dave14305, what happens if you run FlexQoS + a VPN by default? Does it break things like with cake (absent rewriting the implementation) or is the point of application such that it still works? From memory when I ran FlexQoS with VPN the GUI seemed to look like it was all acting...

    QoS-Cake Throttling USB?

Since you raised the issue of terminology, how about the following. 'Ingress' from the perspective of CAKE is traffic from the Router or Internet, i.e. from the perspective of WAN traffic? That is ingress is in the direction of traffic from the ISP. Egress is in the direction of traffic to the...

    QoS-Cake Throttling USB?

I remain at a loss as to why samba download traffic is caught by the below (which I tend to think of as the 'download' aspect of cake): What does 'ingress' mean in the context of the command above?

    QoS-Cake Throttling USB?

I am also curious: why does LAN-LAN not count as 'ingress' but USB samba share download does count as 'ingress'? Could I just modify the smb.conf in some way to ensure the USB samba share download is not counted as 'ingress' on 'br0'? Or might there be another workaround?

    QoS-Cake Throttling USB?

Exploring 'Option 3', does the following make sense to you? To strip out router originating traffic on 'br0' from the cake: tc filter add dev $DLIF parent ffff: protocol ip prio 1 u32 match ip src 192.168.1.1 action pass tc filter add dev $DLIF parent ffff: protocol ip prio 2 matchall action...

    Mysterious loss of connectivity

I think this log may evidence 'Network Monitoring' in wanduck restoring bad connection after 48-hous modem refresh. Don't suppose this gives any further insight? Relevant portion here: https://pastebin.com/YXzh015t Full log here: https://pastebin.com/zNdpiQ81 There seem to be two instances of...

    QoS-Cake Throttling USB?

See e.g.: https://forum.openwrt.org/t/sqm-cake-and-piece-of-cake-qos-high-cpu-usage/17794/36?u=dlakelan And also: http://docs.byteme.org.uk/cgi-bin/man/man2html?tc-cake+8 Option 3: create ifb from 'br0' that mirrors only matched WAN traffic Or as a still further alternative, can I not just...

    QoS-Cake Throttling USB?

Makes sense I think, providing local IP is truly obscured. Dumb question really but can't nat in this situation reveal the local LAN IP? I will try having a look at what 'tcpdump -vpni tun11' shows. From memory I could see the LAN IPs? What about my 'option 2' above?

    QoS-Cake Throttling USB?

Thank you for the comments. I am hopeful that there is a solution here, in terms of QoS + VPN + unthrottled USB transfer - one way or another. Option 1: using 'tun11' + ifb I totally get that shaping on 'eth0' can never work in a VPN context because CAKE is operating entirely blind. And indeed...

    QoS-Cake Throttling USB?

OpenWRT allows you to set the interface to which shaping is applied in SQM config and then it creates the appropriate IFB for that selected interface. I am supposing such flexibility is not presently handled in the Asus-Merlin cake implementation? So to overcome the above-identified problem...

    QoS-Cake Throttling USB?

I don't understand why samba share traffic is getting throttled. Is that really 'ingress' traffic on br0? Is the workaround the use of a 'filter' or something else here? This stuff gets quickly rather complicated, so hopefully somebody very bright has an idea here. Ideally with an explanation of...

    Router temperatures

I gather from reading through this thread that there may be a serious problem with certain models. Although I poked fun at copper plate mod and 3D printed fan mount, I think it is pretty cool to see creative solutions being adopted, and it seems like they are working. I remember the days of...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.3 is now available

Mindful of the deeply troubling temperature problem identified with 386.3_2, for anyone with temperature problems, in addition to the above I also thoroughly recommend setting up a tannoy alarm system in your home that sounds when the temperature increases beyond 45 degrees C: Particularly...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.3 is now available

RMerlin I do hope that you fully took into account the copper mod in your evaluation: Dedel66 have you considered the 3D print mod? That might allow you to use version 386.3_2 whilst retaining temperatures at tolerably low levels - it looks like this: Failing that I recommend a water cooling...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.3 is now available

BTW I found that if you put a '$' in the admin password samba login using admin breaks - as in you cannot log in to the samba share. Removing '$' in the password fixed the problem for me.

    Router temperatures

Some of the posts on this thread are really quite funny. 3D printing fans, sticking fans onto the back, creating historical charts, etc. So it seems like there might be a temperature issue for some of the earlier models, but for models like the RT-AX86u isn't all of this just a little OTT? My...
