    The first command took about 18 seconds. The second one hasn't finished after one minute. I'll keep monitoring and update this post when it is done. 18 minutes, still not done.

    I did that, and that allowed vpnmon to run. Then I tried a reset, it looks like that will also timeout when it is "Reaching out to NordVPN API to download Server IPs."

    My WAN DNS uses the Nord SmartDNS servers: vpnmgr seems to get updated servers eventually and can check the server load, so it seems like something is different about how each tool uses the Nord API.

    DNS caching means it needs to happen relatively quickly. If the change to SmartDNS doesn't happen before the DNS result ages out, then you won't be able to reach Nord to make the change. Wait, do you use something like icanhazip.com? Nord would need the real value, not what the router thinks is...

    Interesting. I see the same thing, except when I ping Nord's SmartDNS server.
