Wired, Open, VLANs, No Communication between Subnets on RT-AC68U running Merlin 386.2_4

Yep, the CPU port number changes depending on the configuration, on my RT-AC87U it changes from 8 to 7 when PPPoE is enabled which turns off FA. It's likely that this is the area that @nytwolf needs to look at, confirm the correct CPU port number with robocfg show, if it's correct try to turn...

Wired, Open, VLANs, No Communication between Subnets on RT-AC68U running Merlin 386.2_4

The CPU port on the RT-AC68U should be 5 not 8, retry the basic config after changing 8t to 5t on the robocfg lines, if it still doesn't work post a robocfg show, you can hide the MAC addresses if you like.

RT-AX86U - Double WAN IPs, What's Going On?

Yep, strange as I would have thought that the router would turn off the DHCP client on the the WAN interface (eth0) when that option is turned off.

RT-AX86U - Double WAN IPs, What's Going On?

You're welcome and yes it's on by default. Not sure why you can still ping that IP, possibly the router is no longer showing it on the GUI but under the hood is still running a DHCP client on the WAN interface, you could try to run ifconfig on the CLI via SSH and see if the IP is still present.

RT-AX86U - Double WAN IPs, What's Going On?

@Ydnaroo there's an Enable VPN + DHCP Connection option at the bottom of the WAN page in PPPoE mode, try to set that to No and the 169. address should go away. With it set to Yes the Asus tries to get an IP from the ONT via DHCP but it won't get one as the ONT isn't running DHCP so it self...

uiDivStats uiDivStats - high cpu usage

Just had this, the CPU was running crazy with IO, uninstalled uiDivStats and removed /opt/share/uiDivStats.d which had files as large as 240 MB, reinstalled uiDivstats and now it's working fine. Edit: corrected the folder name to /opt/share/uiDivStats.d

ASUS RT-AC87U / FW Merlin 384.13_10 vulnerable due to dnsmasq?

You're welcome. It's also worth mentioning that if you're not using the addons and don't absolutely need any of the Merlin specific features you could well go back to Asus stock firmware that has these vulnerabilities already fixed.

ASUS RT-AC87U / FW Merlin 384.13_10 vulnerable due to dnsmasq?

Yes if you set static DNS servers like Cloudflare's etc. on the DHCP page, with the "advertise the router's IP as DNS" off, only those will be advertised to your end devices and they will bypass the router's dnsmasq. If you have any end device with manually configured IPs you'll have to change...

ASUS RT-AC87U / FW Merlin 384.13_10 vulnerable due to dnsmasq?

Yes that would work (unless any of your end devices are themselves running an outdated version of dnsmasq) however you'd lose the benefits of malware, adware and trackers blocking by Diversion which a lot of people here use so the better solution if one can't or doesn't want to update to 386.1...

ASUS RT-AC87U / FW Merlin 384.13_10 vulnerable due to dnsmasq?

Yes you can use amtm's fd to reformat the drive, I've never tried it but I trust @thelonelycoder did a top job with it. Of course save any data you want to keep somewhere else first then copy it back. What USB stick is it? As with Entware and Unbound the drive activity will go up and people...

ASUS RT-AC87U / FW Merlin 384.13_10 vulnerable due to dnsmasq?

What WAN to LAN speed do you get with dd-wrt? Does the 5 GHz radio work?

ASUS RT-AC87U / FW Merlin 384.13_10 vulnerable due to dnsmasq?

High temps aren't really a problem for these routers. My RT-AC87U has been running around 90 degrees Celsius for the 4 summers since I got it (spring 2017), it hasn't skipped a beat and it's still running as a champ. I'd bet it would have kept running for 5 more years if it weren't for the...

ASUS RT-AC87U / FW Merlin 384.13_10 vulnerable due to dnsmasq?

You could install Unbound (which is easy thanks to the excellent unbound_manager script by @Martineau) as a workaround for these dnsmasq vulnerabilities and if other serious vulnerabilities don't come up too soon you could keep using your RT-AC87U until there's a good selection of wifi 6E...

    No worries Bob.

Are there forks for RT-AC87U 384 branch

It's unlikely there will ever be a fork for the RT-AC87U so it's worth starting looking at alternatives. My plan is to go for a pfSense router running on a mini PC from Aliexpress (the most popular brand is called Qotom) and reuse my RT-AC87U as an AP as its wifi is going to be good for a few...

OK, all sorted then. Have a good locked down Saturday night mate ;) ...same here.

wanted: vlan for AC56U in AP-Mode

I've just looked on Amazon Germany (your country by looking at your profile) and the 8 ports version of the Netgear is only 33 euros, I'd get one in a heartbeat, it's at 49.99 euros on my local Amazon, though it comes down sometimes with offers.

wanted: vlan for AC56U in AP-Mode

It should ;) Maybe you could dump the dumb switches and get a managed switch, they're selling for cheap these days, for example the Netgear GS105Ev2. If you want to use a dedicated interface for IoT on the pfSense you wouldn't need to bridge it with your main LAN, just like it isn't bridged...

    Good to hear that Bob.

wanted: vlan for AC56U in AP-Mode

What you should do now is connect everything as above and run Wireshark on your PC to see what's going on exactly.
