[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.18 and 384.13_10 is now available

Yeah, they're too busy developing stuff no one wants like open nat ;) Soon I'll swap my RT-AC87U with the RT-AC68U I got second hand for 50 euros and now running in AP mode. Not going to buy another new Asus router after having been able to use my 87U as a router for only 3 years. Amazon was...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.18 and 384.13_10 is now available

I've updated my RT-AC87U router and my RT-AC68U running in AP mode, all good, thank you RMerlin. Note for Asus, the Open NAT tab has showed up on the AC68U, there's no need for it in AP mode, not that it bothers me but it may confuse people who are new to the firmware.

    wrong VLAN tags going out

Glad it got it working and (knock on wood) it should stick. Yes you didn't have to add that line to your script, it just needs to be set once in the shell. EDIT: as for why it didn't work after the first reboot it was probably one of the other commands you had put in.

    wrong VLAN tags going out

OK, the important line is "nvram set ctf_disable_force=1" and it needs a reboot. CTF turned on in AP mode with multiple VLANs causes exactly the type of problem you are seeing. Can you post "robocfg show" and "brctl show"?

    wrong VLAN tags going out

Have you rebooted the AP after the change?

    wrong VLAN tags going out

Try to disabe HW NAT acceleration (CTF), see this post and the ones following.

    [Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.18 Beta / 384.13_9 is now available

Problem free update for my AC87U. Sad to see the last update cycle for this model which could still run perfectly for a while, wishing Asus would extend its Merlin life a bit longer by providing RMerlin with suitable blobs...

    [384.18_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

I totally agree with the general sentiment, Asus should already pay you very well as things stand today, first because they're selling a lot more routers because of your firmware and second for the free and excellent support their customers are getting on this forum. Basically all anyone with...

uiDivStats uiDivStats - WebUI for Diversion statistics

FWIW no issues here with uiDivStats v2.1.0 (same as with v2.0.0 updated from the previous version) on an RT-AC87U running 384.13_8 and an old (bought in 2012) Kingston DT 100 G2 16GB USB2 stick formatted as ext2 with a 2GB swap file and several other scripts and entware programs on it.

    RT-AC68u WLAN<->WAN routing performance

Or you could just get a dedicated AP to deal with the wifi part so you can retain Merlin's features and addons like Skynet, Diversion, etc on the router part. Or better sell the RT-AC68U and get a newer Merlin supported router. Still it's odd that Colin's router can do 550 Mbps and yours can't...

RT-AC68U: guest networks in AP mode using vlan and iptables

Very good work and a definitive guide on how to use the service-event scripts that as far as I know wasn't available on the forum, these scripts can come very handy for a variety of purposes. I've already updated my router an AP and the scripts are working fine.

RT-AC68U: guest networks in AP mode using vlan and iptables

Yes that looks better, pity it didn't exist when I did this script, I saw it a few months ago and thought about using that for it at some point, I don't want to mess around with my scripts too often when they work ;) Note that for this script it's best to use service-event-end not...

RT-AC68U: guest networks in AP mode using vlan and iptables

You could try doing something like what @Adamm is doing for Skynet on the service-event script, using restart and wireless as args then calling the bridge-reset script. grifo@r1:/jffs/scripts# cat service-event | grep Skynet if [ "$1" = "start" ] && [ "$2" = "SkynetStats" ]; then sh...

RT-AC68U: guest networks in AP mode using vlan and iptables

I'm not a shell scripting expert either, I'm a network guy. I came up with that by trial and error and with some help by one of the forum star posters, @Martineau, and it works well, it never gave me any problems. I remember I tried various combinations for the parameters syntax and settled...

RT-AC68U: guest networks in AP mode using vlan and iptables

They'll get reset each time the wireless restarts which happens after any change to the wireless configuration, like changing the channel number or another wifi parameter or turning off and on a guest wlan, which you are likely to do at some point. It can also happen after changes not strictly...

RT-AC68U: guest networks in AP mode using vlan and iptables

No probs. Be aware that there's one more moving part when doing SSIDs to VLANs, you have to create a couple of scripts both on the router and on the AP to reset the wlan guest interfaces to their correct bridge, else each time the wireless gets reset they'll go back to br0, see the last 2...

RT-AC68U: guest networks in AP mode using vlan and iptables

Yes if you remove port 4 from vlan1 and untag vlan101 on it all untagged traffic on port 4 will be assigned to vlan101 so you could use port 4 as a dedicated port for your IOT and/or guest devices only but if you need the port for devices belonging to different vlans you have to assign it to...

RT-AC68U: guest networks in AP mode using vlan and iptables

Have you changed back the CPU port from 5 to 8 on robocfg? No there isn't a way to do that as a router or managed switch port can assign untagged traffic (eg. coming from an end device or an unmanaged switch) to only one vlan, if you need to use another vlan on the same port it has to be tagged...

RT-AC68U: guest networks in AP mode using vlan and iptables

You are very welcome. You can enable CTF on your main router if you don't have other reasons to keep it off as it is beneficial and it doesn't cause problems to this configuration .
