AC86U dying: Debating on spare AX68U or buying GT-AX6000 for 1Gb

1.2/40 from ISP (comcrap). Two months ago, ditched all their other services/equipment, and kept data with my Arris s33. FYI didn't realize, until modem installation, that isp has complete control over modem, while using their pushed fw. Now waiting for their speed upgrade

Firmware Support for Special Edition Routers

I've never seen those "special" router's gui. IMHO I do not care for those noisy graphics. Just another Thank You towards RMerlin for staying simple for the regular guy!

Firmware Support for Special Edition Routers

+1 for the GT-AX6000 running RMerlin! Ours is located on a shelf, in a centrally located home lab. The Wife Factor doesn't come into play, unless there is an internet issue. It didn't take me too long to learn: Happy Wife = Happy Life ;)

    [Amazon & Newegg]GT-AX6000 $234.99

I appreciate your posting the deal, BUT, I don't care for your language/commentary. My GT-AX6000 is stable and running well in my environment!

    BQ16 Pro Quad Band

Post #12 has me hoping there will be a script to take advantage of this new technology "fax". Does anyone know if the BE98U Pro is getting an RJ-11 port?

    BQ16 Pro Quad Band

@Talat What I think @L&LD also meant to say, " TP-Link is not RMerlin supported". Clark "keeping it friendly" Griswald

Solved At Wits End. OpenVPN Certificate Connection issue with Asus Router

Which Router and FW would be significantly helpful. I have no idea what is happening at your end, BUT I googled "asus router vpn setup", and used the following tutorial: Asus Router VPN Setup As a noob to vpn on the router, I found that guide Griswald Easy!

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 Beta is now available for AC models

Smooth dirty upgrade from alpha. Not experiencing network issues of any kind! I concur that custom device icons are not working. Here are two examples of icons not currently working:

Advice on router, either GT-AX6000 or RT-AX86U PRO

Advice on router, either GT-AX6000 or RT-AX86U PRO

Casa Griswald has AiProtection active, since initial switching to Asus/RMerlin, and we have not experienced any issues. My thought, of all the "data collectors" out there, at least TM is allowing the option to use/not their product, and we use TM as an extra layer of protection. Clark "Belt and...

    [ 386.12 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

I posted a screen shot from my AC86U with RMerlin alpha FW. Reference was to icons not working in this FW, which they seem to be functional. Both RMerlin FWs working flawlessly in my environment!

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

Holy Cow! A whole iphone for a lousy vital organ, is there a wait list? Trying to work a bundle deal for BE98U Pro and a QNAP 2.5GbE switch, if I include both kidneys. I will keep you informed. EDIT I will stop posting and wait for the release of these two 98/98 Pro beasts.

Advice on router, either GT-AX6000 or RT-AX86U PRO

True- many of the features are not going to be used immediately within your setup, but that's the itch. The isp speeds are always going faster, so why not upgrade for uses such as vpn, streaming while out, etc. The 2.5GbE is a great way to speed up your LAN. The Wife Factor - Happy Wife = Happy...

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

@RTWZ80 Please do not harsh the buzz dude, with your "slap of reality" cost talk. YET, since YOU brought the topic of money into the conversation. After seeing the initial cost of GT-BE96U, I'm currently checking what one of my kidneys is worth on the open market. Edit: With the release of the...

    It's time to buy RT-BE96U?

I'm no rocket surgeon, but I'm sure that those 8 rocket speeds aren't being achieved using outdated engines/technology.

Advice on router, either GT-AX6000 or RT-AX86U PRO

+1 GT-AX6000 This is a good time to locate a sale, since Asus has started releasing their RT-BE96U Forum Link
