    Wireguard Session Manager (4th) thread

Definitely interested and happy to run any tests (on AX88U).

Is wireguard available on RT-AC86U ?

Thanks for this, but it is way above my level of understanding. I am using Wireguard Manager for both 'server' and 'client' (AzireVPN) so ideally I would like to have NAT acceleration engaged, but excluding traffic on wg1 and wg2 - I think I may have a lot a reading up to do in 2023

Is wireguard available on RT-AC86U ?

How did you setup the iptable 'trick' - are there notes on this? Thanks Archiel

    Wireguard Session Manager (4th) thread

If they are working in 386.5_2 then hopefully they should still work in 388.1 I have done dirty upgrades 386.5 > 386.7 > 386.8 > 388.1 betas > 388.1 final and all the my extra scripts have continued to work. However I am not running either uiDivStats, FlexQoS or vnStat.

What's the frequency of ddns-start runs?

AFAIK DDNS on IPv6 will trigger based on the lease length provided by your ISP. So as mine has 1 Hour, DDNS is every 30 mins (checks 30 minutes before expiry and on expiry). It may will be that DDNS on IPv4 does the same, simply that it does not report to Syslog unless there is an actual...

    Asuswrt-Merlin Addon Software Catalog

In regard to cake and wireguard I think that 'superceded' would be overstating the case. Both scripts are now configurable via the gui for basic use, but both still offer customisation over and above. For instance the default asus (VPN Fusion) and rmerlin (VPN Director) wireguard only support...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

Dirty upgrade from 388.1 beta4, everything stable and working as expected. Thanks @RMerlin

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

Dirty upgrade beta3 to beta4. Everything looking fine - Bandwidth Monitor is even back (it stopped reporting for beta3) though what it reports is questionable (apparently, I am getting 100Mbps on a capped 80Mbps link), but as I understand it that is an Asus issue.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

Sorry if this has already been covered but should Bandwidth Monitor (basic no Apps) be working on an RT-AX88U? Everything else looks fine (no wifi issues, no DNS leaking, IPv4 and IPv6 firewalls look fine, no drops in connectivity, no complaints from the family) and I can see traffic in the...

    Worked perfectly.

    Unbound Restarting Unbound

Hi @Martineau, how can I restart unbound from a command prompt (ssh)? Background: When I reboot the router, unbound does not complete loading (possibly due to the way I setup the interfaces for IPv6 to work with Wireguard Manager) and so I always need to go to unbound_manager advanced to...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

I have a slightly different setup - RT-AX88U and Asus DDNS, but I was also finding that DDNS would fail when IPv6 Native mode was enabled. (For Asus) DDNS needs to pick up the wan address on eth0, but on my setup it was only showing on br0 - you can use ifconfig br0, ifconfig eth0 to check...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

I am using the Asuscomm DDNS and although IPv6 didn't work at first after a dirty update (386.8 to beta1) after a reboot it has been fine. Also, no problems after the update to beta2.

    IPv6 question

Doh! with apologies to @Martineau (thanks for the code) and @ZebMcKayhan (whose setup guide is invaluable). With that said @Kingp1n is running a GT-AX11000, so I believe quite capable of using the WGM addon. For me the real consideration is/would be my connection speed. At 80/20 Mb/s having...

    IPv6 question

If you are running the VPN Director VPN clients on the router, then you will have IPv6 leaks, because the clients themselves do not support IPv6. @RMerlin does not have access to an IPv6 ISP and without this it is not practical to do the work necessary to get this to work. As noted elsewhere...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

At the non-technical level, Wireguard and Broadcom's AX chipsets just don't play nicely together. Furthermore, disabling Flow Control will limit the speed for all devices, not just those on the VPN tunnels. As noted in previous threads if you want to use Wireguard with a fast ISP, don't run it...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

Also running beta2 on RT-AX88U, but different result. I am using @Martineau's Wireguard Manager and although I also use Cake, which should itself disable Flow Control, I had disabled Flow Control directly in WireguardVPN.conf. As a test I have re-enabled Flow Control in Wireguard Manager and...

    IPv6 question

As (I assume) the scan is against the IPv6 address of the device you are using (rather than the router's IP) have you tried running against a different device, it shouldn't make any difference but 'just in case'?
