Modem – Router that will replace ISP ADSL Sky's SR203 Router/Modem.

I have Sky and am running an RT-AX88U with a Draytek Vigor 130 - (previously used this modem with RT-AC87U) both work fine, there are guides available on both Sky's website and Draytek's. The Sky router (and its predecessor) just sit in their boxes.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.8 Beta is out for specific models

Dirty upgrades from 386.7_2 to 386.8_alpha1-ge365a66780 and then 386.8_beta1 in quick succession on RT-AX88U. On first look, almost everything looks normal. IPv6, WiFi, AiMesh, addons all okay. The only thing that looks odd is regular messages of the form Aug 5 20:25:34 RT-AX88U-5050 kernel...

I have just adjusted the custom DNS so it now reads IPv4: 10.50.60.11 and IPv6: ::ffff:10.50.60.11 and re-attached my wife's work laptop ..... and 12 hours later checking the dnsmasq and unbound logs all looks good. Thanks

    Diversion Diversion 4.3.3 - the Router Ad-Blocker, released April 02 2023

Using secondary blocklist with, 386.7 IPv6 and DNSFilter I had a secondary setup for Diversion (with Pixelserv) for my wife's work laptop, just using the minimal list (for other users set to standard) and applied this by adding the secondary IP as a custom DNS in DNSFilter and then adding the...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

How does the new DNSFilter work work if there is nothing added to the IPv6 filter - does it pick up the Global IPv6? I had a secondary setup for Diversion (with Pixelserv) for my wife's work laptop, just using the minimal list (for other users set to standard) and applied this by adding the...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

Okay, that makes sense, but does not explain why the swap file was not in use (386.5) but is now (as it was with older versions) and whether this is connected to page loading issues with scribe. Any thoughts what to try next?

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

@RMerlin Does the following make any sense, (my apologies if this is a stupid question)? When running 386.5_2 the RAM used fluctuated between 50 - 65%, the swap file never got used and the web interface was (pretty much) always responsive. Looking at htop I have a couple of VIRT memory hogs -...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

Observations after 3 1/2 days running continuously (previously did multiple reboots while checking all addons were working) Good IPv6 all fine (using WAN Automatic IP, IPv6 Native, DHCP-PD, Stateless) Wi-5i 5.0 GHz & 160 MHZ seems stable - no signs of disconnects / drop outs No unexpected...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

Where do I find 386.7_1-g8fd8deefbb_pureubi.w for RT-AX88U. I can see this for the AX86U but I only see 386.7_1-gd1340bd88e_cferom_ubi.w (5th July) for RT-AX88U (which I downloaded from the One Drive Test Builds)?

Wireguard Session Manager - Discussion (3rd) thread

I have not ditched NETMAP. On a quick check both a direct client connection (ubuntu vm) and a routed phone appear to working correctly (no ip leaks showing, adblocking functioning ,ipv6 tests all good) However, although 'stop wg11' completed normally, 'stop wg21' generated E:Option ==> stop...

Wireguard Session Manager - Discussion (3rd) thread

Hi @ZebMcKayhan though you may like to know that having upgraded to 386.7_1 I was able to remove entware iptables from my setup, including removing ip6tables -t nat -A WGDNS1 -i br0 -j DNAT --to-destination ${WanIp6} from wg11-up.sh. As far as I can tell, everything is working fine.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

I have just run a dirty install from 386.5_2 to 386.7 and then 386.7_1 All the IPv6 connectivity seems to be fine and thanks to the addition of IPv6 to DNSFilter I have been able to remove entware iptables (I was using this as a proxy for IPv6 DNSFilter to get WireGuard to behave as wanted)...

VPNMON POLL: Who is your preferred VPN provider?

My preference is AzireVPN, mainly because I* managed to get it working properly in dual stack mode for both server and clients over WireGuard (* with a huge amount of help from @ZebMcKayhan and @Martineau). I had been using NordVPN, but after 5 years of 'IPv6 support is coming, its is just...

Wireguard Session Manager - Discussion (3rd) thread

Not looked at MTU for years so some basic questions My internet connection is VDSL and uses DHCP Option 61 rather then PPPoE and in the Router WAN MTU it is currently set at 1500 (which is the default recommended by ISP) checking with ifconfig br0: 1500, wg11: 1420 & wg21:1420 Checking the...

when we were first testing (and having all the issues around adding the <alias6> to br0) I moved this from usb (/opt/tmp) to jffs 'just in case'. I will move it back there now.

I have included them below. It should be noted that I am still in the process of fully documenting exactly where I have ended up after testing various different options, so I may have missed some steps (I will edit this later if if find I have). The setup includes An ISP that provides a...

Wireguard Session Manager - Discussion (3rd) thread

I did not explicitly test (by adding / removing the these rules), but I can confirm that for my particular setup, they are not included in my scripts and with passthru I can also assess local resources on other LAN devices (including those that are routed out wg11), whether desktops by RDP, or...
